Firefly put on hiatus beginning in January but it has not been cancelled.

"Fox Entertainment President Gail Berman stressed that "Firefly" has not been canceled. New episodes will continue to air throughout December and the network is considering a new time slot for the series."

ETA: apparently this may not be good news after all, as FOX tends to pull shows after they've gone on hiatus. Bugger.
