Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin signing autographs in Anaheim , California this weekend. What kind of a convention is this? Only autographs no Q&A ?

I have to say...that looks like a really cheesy event!
If anyone goes, please be sure to post all about it...
because I am kind of curious
it is not really a convention. i believe it is a gamers event.....i really do not know what that is either though being as i do not play video games. but since it is only 10 minutes from my house. i am going sat i believe to see nathan and adam, get me some autographs.......since i have to wait so long for the BIG DAMN MOVIE!!!
Oh man...I'm really not one to criticize this stuff, because I go to cons to meet the out of work Buffy actors, but....I'll admit to a little sadness if Nathan(or any of the Jossverse actors) is still showing up at cons in 20 years for his Firefly/Serenity work. These actors deserve to be propelled into glorious careers that aren't restricted to genre work(unless that's what they want to do), so I sincerely hope they'll all be too busy and 'big' to do cons. I also hope we don't see them on The Surreal Life or any 'Where are they now' shows...
I mean, it's all well and good for Elvira to still be doing cons because her 'thing' is very genre-specific, and she has no other talents besides having big boobs. And I can tell you from experience, that takes no talent whatsoever. But our actors...they deserve better.

I have a mantra in my head: "Nathan Fillion will NOT become Lorenzo Lamas" (apologies to LL fans...)
i agree with you rogue slayer..i would be sad to see nathan going this kind of thing in 20 years, he should be HUGE!!! same with adam..........right now,i think they are doing it to support the big damn movie.......and i am glad.....finally something i do not have to drive to LA for.........plus i can go to disneyland right after........since i am not a gamer(yikes!!) sorry if there are any gamers here.
Funny, SillyD, I was just thinking I didn't want to drive from LA to Anaheim. The 5 is absolute insanity. But then I think about the folks who are MUCH farther away, and I feel silly for complaining about driving an hour.
that is funny rogue slayer.......i guess it is pretty bad complaining about driving that hour to LA when people have to travel farther.....but then i think that hour is usually closer to two hours with that traffic......so than i think yay adam and nathan are in anaheim.
Good Lord..Lorenzo Lamas, Cassandra Peterson, Veron Wells. Nathan? Adam? Say it aint so...

I'd almost drive down from SF, but God, SoCal traffic is murder...
I like the part where they are attending 'voluntarily' - what? are they, like, forced to attend the other cons?!
I will be down there tomorrow afternoon. While I agree that I don't want to see them doing this 20 years from now, I think they are trying to get as much of a buzz for Serenity as possible. And from a fans perspective, this looks like a great place to see them, since the majority of gamers won't know or care.
Well if anyone is going, say hi to them from everyone here at Whedonesque and tell 'em we can't wait to see Serenity in September.
Voluntarily is another word for free. Since this is a signing only, the only money they will be making is from the autographs they sell and at gen con that could be a pretty good payday for the boys in the end. It is a pretty big gamers convention - I think maybe 10-20K in attendance daily, at least that is typical for the Indy ones they hold. At gaming cons all they have media guest do is signings. Yeah this is more to get the word out about the film more than anything else and more so than anything else is by their appearance they will get more word of mouth which is what gets people in the seats at movies faster than anything else. So more power to them, and I wish I could go but I think my cards want me to sit this one out this month. Plus they can drive home so it's only costing them time, gas, and perhaps some hand cramps. :)
FWIW, I've been told that Morena Baccarin has substituted for Adam Baldwin, and... she cut her off! It's down to her chin now, but I'm told she looks great with the haircut!
Thanks, RavenU, for deciphering the publicist-speak. It's really great that Nathan is willing to promote this movie in any way possible, because not only does it show his belief in it's worth, it demonstrates how hard he's willing to work to make "Serenity" a success. He's a cool dude.
