Nathan, the soap opera, and the "Joss Whedon is my Master" t-shirt. "PvP" cartoonist Scott Kurtz passes along some intriguingly odd Nathan Fillion TV appearance news -- and gives approval for the use of his t-shirt on-air....

Kurtz writes in the daily strip's news section:

Got this email from a fan:

"In case you haven't heard this yet. Nathan Fillion is going to make a cameo on his old soap opera. One of the characters is a fan trying to get his autograph. The fan will be wearing a 'Joss Whedon is my master' T shirt.

I got this from my wife who knew him from when he was on the soap. She saw his pic on a super market rag and read this. I don't have any more details than this but I can try to get them. She is going to buy the rag when she sees it again."

And then this:

"I have not been able to confirm this or get my hands on the rag myself...there is a follow up article which says they can't show the shirt on TV due to copyright. She says the article says there will be a referance made to the shirt but the character can't wear it. I don't know when it will air. She says the soap this will happen on is General Hospital but google says the soap he was on was One Life To Live."

If anyone out there knows more about this or can contact the people involved, I hereby give you permission to use the shirt on the show. I will sign a release to that effect. Use the shirt! I think that would be totally awesome.

Yep, he was definitely on OLTL, which I watched for most of my formative years. Mal is finally seared into my brain, but it took more than a few episodes of Firefly before I stopped thinking of him as Joey Buchanan in space.

I hope this turns out to be true; it'd be neat. ::waits for confirmation and prepares to set TiVo::
If this is true it could be all sorts of fun as I've heard his old character Joey Buchanan is a man of the cloth now.
This much I do know: One Life to Live films in New York City. So this can't happen at least until "White Noise 2: Whiter and Louder" finishes filming. ;-)

Is he an evil priest? Imbued with the power of the first evil? ;P
he seems to play a lot of clergymen... ("Rev. Glenn Collins" on "Pasadena" was news to me...)

So I'm thinking, if we could just get Seth Green (aka Scott Evil) to guest star as well, we could have the evil priest AND an evil petting zoo! Wacky fun will inevitably follow.
Well, his character wasn't a priest when Nathan had the part so he hasn't played being a clergyman a lot. I watch the soap that's on after this one so I see the "Next on OLTL" promos and Joey Buchanan isn't even on the show anymore.

Keever, every time I mentioned Firefly to my sister she'd say "Joey Buchanan is on that show isn't he?"
Maybe he'll come back as his evil twin...
His evil, sexy twin!! Just please, please don't hook him back up with Dorian - that was gross!
