Flanvention: the Experience an IGN report. "Having the chance to sit down to dinner for two hours with a member of the Firefly cast isn't something every fan gets to experience." I cannot believe I missed this report back in Dec. This certainly brought back some nice memories and a few tears.

I have double and tripled checked and it doesn't look like it had ever been posted here.

Thanks for posting this. It's always nice to read fan experiences at cons.
So jealous. Wish I could have been there! Thanks for the post. I have never been to a convention, so it was nice to get such a personal view of what goes down. I bet that was an amazing moment when Joss walked in. That is truely special. I love our BDHs!
Like Harmalicious, I haven't been to a con myself, so really detailed reports like this really *rock*! Thanks, RavenU, for going back in time and putting this one on the board. :-)
I have never been to a convention before but I have been to a charity luncheon (Give Kids the World)in 1997 sponsored by a soap star (Thorsten Kaye,OLTL). It was an electrifying afternoon for most of us because we all were so dang crazy about him. And he was just so nice and so approachable. Kind of like our Captain.

Which makes me sad that I missed the BDF. As much as I am a big fan of TK's, I am absolutely in love with the crew of Serenity. Not to mention Serenity herself. And I am sorry to have missed out on all the love. Hopefully there will be another Big Damn Flanvention this year.
an awesome review of a great weekend! and it was so nice to read it now and remember everything. :) plus i was amused because my little Cate is in one of the pics... lol.
This just makes December seem so far away for some reason! I really cannot wait.
That was great, thanks for posting it. I've only ever attended one convention, which Jewel Staite and Jonathan M. Woodward attended. It was a fantastic day, Jonathan was extremely entertaining and Jewel was really sweet. I have to confess I was a little nervous so I didn't ask any questions during the question and answer sessions, but hopefully I'll be a little more confident next time.

It's just a shame that it is very unlikely you would get such a huge number of the cast together in one place unless it's in the US and a city like LA.

There is another one scheduled Flanvention II is Dec 8-10, 2006 in Burbank, California. So far the guest list includes Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Statie, Ron Glass, Mark Sheppard, Christina Hendricks, Keith R.A. DeCandido, and some others. There is still 6 monthes left and many more guest announcements to be made. Heck they were adding guest to this event up until the very last minute last year. Because of the success of last year, this year's is already close to 2/3 sold out. Another thing is you never know who will just stop by as well, a few surprises happened that way last year.
Hey RavenU! Thanks for posting that. I have SUCH respect for those folks running and helping with the Booster, *events*. :-)

Any word on the East Coast shindig? The PBP Committee always swatted around the idea of having an East Coast PBP, but we couldn't figure out how to pull it off and get folks there while the shows were in production. I'm psyched that BE has the opportunity to do so NOW! :-D
