Joss used to advertise Veronica Mars. Australia's Network Ten is using Joss' post on this site about VM to advertise the show's upcoming series return. Press more for information.

The ad basically goes - "See why the creator of Buffy says Veronica Mars is the best show ever" - there's a big title screen that says "Buffy's Joss Whedon" and then it cuts to another one that has the quote - "Best. Show. Ever. Seriously. - Joss Whedon". All interspersed with clips from the show. It's kinda cool! Nice of Channel 10 to do that, especially considering they didn't air Buffy.

Yeah, I saw that ad, too. Wasn't sure how to turn it into a post here, even though it really deserves it. Good work for figuring it out :-)

It's an odd way to advertise though - although similar to the "Quentin Tarantino Presents" tagline on films he never went near, I suppose. Given how low the viewership was for VM the first time Network Ten showed it, though, any angle is a good angle.

Yeah, they really appear to be banking on Buffy to bring in an audience here... other ads appear to be channeling Desperete Housewives or Lost, playing up the great mystery of the season... and other ones are O.C. like, focusing on the upper classness or the place.

They've really covered their bases... when it comes back I guess we'll see what happens!

The soon-dead UPN also used a commercial that used a line something like the "see why the creator of Buffy called VM 'the funniest and most romantic show on TV.'" Not that I'm a fanatic about VM or anything. ;-)

I saw the ad while watching Big Brother (yes, I'll admit to it) and jumped up and down after hearing the Joss mention. Maybe it will attract a few more viewers, and they won't interrupt the season again. Here's hoping!

About time. I was going to juts import the DVDs, but funds are an issue. I'm hoping the R4 release appears soon, maybe with a few more extras.

How sad am I? When I saw this ad on TV last night, I teared up just seeing Joss' name on the screen! I miss the 'verse so very, very much!

Aaaw, this makes me ever so happy. Even though I've already watched both Seasons, I feel like tuning in just because they used Joss in the adverts!

Not to put a negative spin on it, but Channel 10 must have really run out of ideas to promote the show if they had to rely on the creator of Buffy, y'know? Is that really going to convince people who think Buffy is a show about a ditzy girl who fights off monsters to give Veronica Mars a chance?

No, but it might convince people who liked Buffy to give it a chance.

It might also convince people who read Astonishing X-Men or like Firefly and Serenity to give it a go.

Liking Joss and Buffy are not mutually exclusive, sadly. I know plenty of people who love Astonishing or Firefly and hated Buffy. They know his name, though, so they'll be more inclined to check it out.

I've never been more grateful for Living TV +1 than I am right now. Thanks to the timeshift channel I don't have to choose between Veronica Mars and Angel on Sci Fi tonight. Yet another time that I manage to avoid the need for upgrading to a Sky Plus box, hehe.

Best response I've heard to the famous VM-quote came from my boyfriend. When I told him that Joss Whedon had said Veronic Mars was the best television show ever he answered "He must have missed Firefly."
