Joss Whedon Still F--ing Rules. San Francisco Chronicle columnist Mark Morford talks about why Joss rules and also the Equality Now Speech which was already posted here but it's embedded in this link too.

Morford on Whedon, it doesn't get any better than that. He hits the nail right on the head.
You beat me too it. The video we've seen before, but the glowing write-up is nice to see in a major (or semi-major) newspaper.
Thank you for posting that article. Short yet succinct. You show me a man whose mother raised him to be believe that a strong woman is a benefit, nay a necessity in the world, and that womankind is to be respected, and I'll show you all us single gals, whatever age, who pine to be with a partner exactly like the man that Lee Stearns raised her son to be. I am confident, short of a horrible industrial accident, that Joss Whedon will still be creative into his 60s, 70s, and beyond. His children will grow, he'll keep thinking and reflecting and new inspiration will come. I can't imagine a world without him.
Thanks for posting that! I actually hadn't seen that video. It made me tear the weak male character that I am ; )~
A most wonderful article. Thanks for the post. I never get tired of that video.
Maryl Streep reads that intro like she has not a f*cking idea who or what she's talking about. It's kinda funny.
My two heroes meeting in print? It couldn't get better than this!
If you were Meryl Streep would you know? I don't blame her for not knowing who Joss is. He's very under the radar when it comes to Hollywood's Over 40 Club.
Alright, I've been holding this in too long, I've just got to say it:

Meryl Streep should be Wonder Woman!!!
Meryl Streep may not have known who Joss was then, but after hearing that speech she sure as hell knows now!
nice to see in a major (or semi-major) newspaper.

Only if this paper prints its blogs, because this was from an blog.
Yes, but Mark Morford is probably the most popular sfgate blogger there is. I live in the Bay Area and most everyone I know reads him regularly. This is indeed good PR for Joss. :)
"How is it possible this is even a question?"
".... this imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who is confronted with it."

Ah, Joss, you made me cry. Laughing through the first of his answers to The Question, I felt such release when he got to this answer. It made me think of the moment, at the end of Buffy, when all the Potentials are empowered, and I cried a little more.

The world is a better place with Joss in it, and there's nothing more important than that.
Fantastic speech - thanks for posting it!
Wonderful speech. You know, I'd rather turn to Joss's writings for ethical instruction than the Koran, Bible, or Book of Mormon. (Plus, Vampire Willow.)
Ah, beaten to the punch!
Mark Morford is one of my favourite writers at The Gate. That he also thinks Serenity kicks ass, well, kicks ass.
(Check out his his column. Here are the archives. He rocks like...well, like Joss!)
And Video Dog at just picked up the Equality Now goodness today.
