If I'm not mistaken they're going with a October 13th release.

And for my surprise, sony will actually give it a worldwide release. Found out this weekend passing by a movie poster.

Actually besides SMG, there's Amber Tamblyn who's starring the movie. Now she's playing Sarah's Character sister, but back in Buffy she was Buffy's younger sister friend.
We can even play the connections game. Amber player Jason Ritter's sister in Joan of Arcadia, who's John Ritter's real son, who was in Buffy as an evil love interest for Buffy's mom. Heh.

At least the idea of there being a second film isn't ridiculous in this case since the basis of the film is that this curse is ongoing and will continue to have an impact on everyone who enters the house. Unlike other films where people keep accidentally killing people over the summer or everyone assumes the wrong person is the killer until the next film when it turns out they weren't or that there's a copycat or something.

The trailer looks good. I'm not a fan of horrors for the most part, but I'll go and see this.

Not a big fan of Japanese horror at all...I tried to watch Ringu and Ju-On...I couldn't, I just couldn't. The Grudge was interesting to me, visually, though the story did need a little work, imo.

Ju-on 4? Not exactly. Not including the American remake there has been 5 Japanese Ju-on films. I believe there was also an indian remake. However it went be a completely unrelated title.

Does anybody know if Grudge 2 will follow a similar storyline to Ju-on: The Grudge 2 or is it a completely new story?

Rip2: I believe it's meant to be a completely new story. It's possible there are a few related plot points though.

Impossible - I figured it wouldent(couldent) be an exact remake but I wanted it to at least follow closly to the story like the first did. The one thing i missed most from the american Grudge is that they dident include the scenes with the three school girls. Those scenes were a mind F***. From the look of the trailer one scene makes it look like it may possibly be in this movie.

In one part of the trailer, the girl under a table reaching for the phone but touching Toshio's foot, is from the first Ju-on movie, Ju-on: The Curse, which was made for television in Japan, starring Chiaki Kuriyama.

I think the movie looks good. But I think it's going to lose money seeing as it showed SMG's death.

Do you know what the budget was for The Grudge? Only $10 million. Even with advertising costs if The Grudge 2 costs 3 or even 4 times that amount it will still make money. I dont see it making $110 million like the first but it will definatly make a profit.

The thing is, the death didn't have to be shown -- but it had to be implied anyway, because people see the trailer, wonder why in every scene SMG is in a hospital gown, then all they see for the next 2 minutes is Amber Tamblyn. It had to be explained pretty quickly.
