The cult of the writer. Much praise from the Los Angeles Times for Jane Espenson and her blog.

Lovely! I always like to see Jane get good press.
Good find Simon. That was a nice little read. And good for Jane, she deserves the attention. Jane's easily one of the best writer's from Buffy and I've continued to follow her career since.
YAY, I subscribe to her blog. She is my favorite writer behind Joss himself. She also seems like a lovely person.
and she is SO HOT!

I'll agree with skeezycheeses and say that she was one of the best writers on Buffy; the woman wrote band candy! We love her!
I always got a kick on how she would come to The Bronze (beta) after one of her eps aired, to see what was being talked about.
She would moan that one of her best jokes was cut in editing or the delivery was a little off, or freely give credit to Joss when one line or section particularly resonated and it wasn't one of hers!
Her blog is a great read even for those of us not planning on writing.
Wonderful find, Simon! I always get a kick reading Jane's interviews. What a talented mind. Really looking forward to her script on BSG. Ron, hire this writer full time!
I am a huge fan of Jane Espenson (although I never belonged to 'Jane's Junkies'), and I am thrilled to see her getting so much recognition. Her blog is always fun to read, and her episodes are always distictive (I'm so sorry she didn't stay at 'Gilmore Girls'). I would love to see her write some screen plays for film, but actually she probably finds that television gives her more scope to explore characters.
I have no intention of ever writing a spec script, but Jane's blog is still an informative, conversational and delightfully witty read. Her enthusiasm and eye for unusual details never fail to leave me in a better place than where I started.
Plus, she always seems to have something interesting or delicious for lunch!
Jane herself seems happy about the piece:

"In other promotional news, you might be interested to read about this very blog in today's LA Times. A very nice piece. You are all involved in this blogging transaction with me, gentle readers, so congrats to us all!" -- Jane's blog 08/08/2006
I worry the pressure may start to tell from all this attention. I mean how many interesting lunches can you have before you start to repeat yourself ?
I hear ya, Saje -- although she has so far kept her lunch reports fresh and original, we may have to start submitting suggestions or tips... Although she is in L.A., "Land of the Many Restaurants" and her tastes are fairly eclectic. Still, a valid concern, and we must keep our eyes out for flagging in this respect. It is the crux of the biscuit.
Yay Jane! I don't write, either, but I still enjoy her blogs. It helps me appreciate what writers have to do, and helps me understand what I see in a completed ep, based on what the writers put into it and, then, what the actors put into it, etc. And, yeah, keep those meals original, Jane -- no sack lunches for you! ;-)
I love Jane and really enjoy her blog.
I don't write scripts, but Jane's advice--think about your audience--seems applicable to just about any kind of writing. Besides, I just like her style. Fabulous article!
Well, so far Jane's blog never fails to keep me both hungry (in a "ooh, that sounds really good now I'm drooling type of way") and amused! Still, definitely a valid concern, if it's "tomato soup" everyday the blog'll definitely lose something.
I enjoy Jane's style of writing - and her sense of humour - whether on TV or on her blog and I also wish she'd stayed with Gilmore Girls, especially now that the Palladinos have left. Although her tips may be directed at scriptwriting, I always find something helpful in them.

As someone who loves to cook and is always looking for new recipes, I've garnered some ideas from her various lunches, as well ;-)
