Tonight's Gilmore Girls written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner. The first new Gilmore Girls episode of the year penned by former Buffy scribe Kirshner.

And, was it me, or was there a sly Whedon fandom shout-out?

I love Rebecca. I'm sorry I missed this epi.
Edited 'cause me and my post just didn't get it.

True, but, the main link is to the episode on imdb. The shoutout in the episode references that article. I just added the other as a reference so that people wouldn't have to look it up.
I started loosing interest in this show over the hiatus but I turned it on last night anyway cause there wasn't anything else to watch, and then the show totally redeemed itself.
I thought this ep was one of the better ones in this uneven season....they have been hit or miss. I think last night's was good because A.) There was no Logan B.) There was a Lane storyline C.) The episode was centered on a kookie Lorelai/Rory tradition.

Now just give me a Paris episode and I'll be a happy man.

p.s. How ridiculous was Lane's prego-belly? It was so mishapen!
I think the 2 best episodes of this uneven season have been Kirshner's. My other favorite episode was "That's What You Get, Folks, for Makin' Whoopee," the one with the "dessert sushi," and Lane returns from her honeymoon...

yamsham That belly was scary! She's only supposedly a few months along, and the last we saw her, she wasn't showing yet. Oh well. It was funny, so, we'll forgive the incongruity.

Loved loved loved this episode! Totally missed Rebecca's name, but it doesn't surprise me because it was fantastic!
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm looking forward to it now!
Caught that grocery list shout out. Quite fun.
you think the grocery list was a ref?

and yes...scary is the word for that belly. i half expected gina torres to shoot out of her belly by the end of the ep.
Full disclosure. I have totally been downloading episodes as they are not due in NZ for aaaaages (RIAA - sue me now, but I'll watch them on TV too, ads and all, promise). RRK has been a co-executive producer for pretty much all of GG this season, has she not?

This season has been 'interesting', for any number of reasons that regular watchers could enumerate without hesitation. Banter quality is not what it was, but the soapy elements are pretty damnably intriguing.

If I wanted to discuss such stuff, would it be wrong to do so here in this thread (I love Whedonesquer's opinions - they seem to be a cut above SQUEEE levels on other boards)? There may be a better place of which I am not aware.
If anyone's still checking this thread, besides me, well...

yamsham I think the grocery list was a reference (which is why I mentioned it) to the story about Joss' shopping list. I could be wrong, but, that's what I thought of when I heard it.

giles RRK has indeed been with the Girls for a couple of seasons, and, you're definitly right, the banter has not been up to par. If you wanted to discuss this more, probably Whedonesque.org is the place to go, though, admittedly, I don't hang out there much myself. Not so much freetime of late myself. Anyway.
i thought so too k8...but i figured it was too obscure and most likely a coincidence.
