White Noise 2 to go straight to dvd in the States according to Fangoria.com. But there's no word on the release date for Nathan Fillion's movie.

Honestly, it doesn't particularly surprise me. White Noise never seemed much like a first film in a theatrical series. I never quite understood why the studio thought a White Noise 2 would be anything other than a direct-to-DVD movie.

(On the upside, I caught the Nathan-centric ad for Drive earlier this evening on FOX.)
There seemed to be something odd going on there, particularly when the movie opened in the UK but there was no word of it opening elsewhere. Too bad.

But Nathan had a great debut at Sundance with Waitress, a movie I am really looking forward to, and has Drive coming up, which is really exciting.
Bit of a shame. WN2 wasn't exactly stellar IMO but it had some decent jumps and good performances from the leads. Compared to some of the dreck that makes it to the big screen it deserved a shot I reckon.
Well, direct-to-DVD is still a way of getting out to the public. At least it won't be sitting around in a film warehouse somewhere, never to be seen! Signed, Glass-Half-Full Boy. ;-)
Well this just stinks. Here I've been waiting for this to come out on the big screen, and now they pull this. Oh well. I'll still support my captain, big screen or no.
Obiviously, these people have not seen Nathan in his skirt. Simon, do you still have that picture?
May I just point out that this report is not yet a fact. It is based on the unofficial word of an unnamed person.
I would be surprised to see that a firm decision would have been made one way or another right now. With not one but two potential breakout projects on the near horizon for Nathan Fillion, you'd think the production company would take a wait-and-see approach to the US release. If both Drive and Waitress hit huge and made him a big name, why not try to piggyback on that to do even a modest theatrical release sometime this summer? Then again, this is the same production company that released it in the UK without even putting up a simple website for the flick, so there's no vouching for their business acumen.
I'm starting to giggle.
You know, I actually thought the other day, "I have heard absolutely no news about White Noise 2; wonder if it'll go direct-to-DVD?"

I avoided the first and I'm honestly not expecting much from this despite Nathan and Katee, but I'll still be seeing it, make no doubt about it.

And I've actually seen good direct-to-DVD flicks before...

I'm with MALicious and BrewBunny here and Master Yoda who said something like Always in motion; the future is.
I posted a question about this direct-to-DVD report on Patrick Lussier's MySpace page (the director of WN2), to see if it's true. I'll see if he replies.
THIS IS JUST A RUMOUR

the decision has not yet been made - so it'd be good if people stopped posting rumours as though they are fact.

There's still a chance the decision will go either way

I don't know if there's anything anyone can do to influence the "powers that be"..... hmm.... not sure it would be wise to start some kind of campaign
