River vs. Terminator? IGN seems to suggest she plays something made by Skynet...

Hope thats true.

Summer in a terminator-esque role is far more appealing/interesting to me than her just playing John Conner's girlfriend (for example).

That's some interesting speculation. And she would certainly be able to play that role very well. But what a contrast in dialogue style compared to River Tam :)

Ah, but perhaps she'll be playing an emotionally damaged, highly intuitive robot killing machine.

Hmmm. I don't see anything on that link.

However, if she is an early Skynet creation, I could see her doing a great job as an all around companion-bot. Fun to be with and able to act as a bodyguard when needed.

Just a thought.

I can't even get IGN to come up. I agree she might be good as a robot, but I just hope Summer isn't getting typecast as a sci-fi robot/alien/psycho MOTW. That seems a strange fate to befall a ballerina.

I don't think this will happen. Of the two parts in series she's had since Firefly/Serenity (4400 and the Unit), she's had recurring roles and only in her first ep of the 4400 was there any similarity to her Firefly role.

To me it sounds like this terminator thing may be another recurring (maybe even starring) role, rather than a MOTW and while if she does play a terminator-esque (I'm trademarking that term by the way) role that requires much ass-kicking, it would be very different to her River-style ass-kicking I think.

Oi! Any of you slapheads ever think she could be a female version of John Connor's daddy? Sent back in time to help protect Sarah and John Connor covertly? Cuz it would allow her to kick major tuchus and still be able to emote;D

Summer is great at accents... and she's in a Terminator series... I demand she speaks in an Ahnuld accent! :-D

The Data-ish role of a Skynet model hooking up with the Connors and learning to act human could be great, but BlueEyedBrigadier's idea sounds good too.

I'll agree with that! I've really liked seeing her on "The Unit" lately because it's just so different from her other roles. Even though the idea behind this new show doesn't appeal to me (I've never seen a Terminator movie before nor have the desire to), I'll still check it out.

I somehow missed that she is on the Unit...but then I don't remember which one of those shows I run across now and then the Unit is. I'll have to look it up for this week.

As the guy who wrote the IGN article, I just want to point out that I'm not suggesting she plays something made by Skynet, but that I can't help but wonder if she might be... :) I like the idea of her playing a hero from the future sent back to help too, though.
