No Tim Minear for season 5? Ain't It Cool News reports that Tim has taken a job as head-writer/show-runner for the new Fox series "Wonder Falls."

Whether or not this has any bearing on the show being renewewed or not, we'll just have to wait and see.

This is very, very bad. Tim Minear rocks. Joss and Tim are the best, and it's a shame to see him leaving Angel (mind you, the show coped alright this year without him for the most part). However, it means there is a good chance this "Wonder Falls" may have some good episodes, at the very least.
Am I the only one who thinks this does not bode well for 'Angel' returning? The fact that the show runner is looking for work a week before network pick ups are announced my indiciate that he knows what's to come, and it's not happy news.
Tim hasn't been the showrunner for Angel since last season. Jeff Bell is.
I think some of these people want to make a name for themselves. Joss gets at least some, and usually most of the credit for everything good that happens in his shows and little of the bad. That's got to get old after a while.
Well, Joss is now free to concentrate on Angel as much or as little as he wants. Jeff Bell is running the show. David Greenwalt is back on board full time, and David Fury is now free of his Buffy committments and is supposed to be jumping over to Angel as well.

Fox fast-tracked "Wonder Falls" for summer release; if they were willing to pay Minear big bucks to run the show, no reason he shouldn't jump at the chance. I'm sure he'll stay involved with Season 5, but Bell, Greenwalt, Fury and Joss should be able to hold down the fort without him.
brother_grady is right. I talked to Shawn Ryan a few months ago, and he said that while he enjoyed working on Angel, he wanted to move onto other things. Hence The Shield, which is a critically-acclaimed show in its own right.
I know that Tim is no longer the show runner on 'Angel' but he is the writer/director of the season finale annd the general assumption was that he would become heavily involved in the show again. Maybe I am reading too much into this and Tim really just wants to go out on his own. I certainly hope that is the case.
Bummer either way, as TM is a truly brilliant writer. Although, on the bright side, he's likely to help make this new show something worth watching.
Hm. Maybe this'll leave room for Drew Goddard to move on to AtS. Hmmm...
