Kelly Donovan Tells You How to Make Comics. Scott McCloud uses Nick Brendon's twin in his latest book Making Comics.

Kelly appears on page 30 as a reference to the importance of words in a panel.
"Oh hey, Look! It's Kelly Donovan, twin brother of the guy who played Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer..." to which lil' cartoon Kelly waves and replies "I was in a couple of episodes..."

I am a huge fan of Scott McCloud's and have referred his books to many. Lots of great stuff on his website. He's a comic artist who writes about making comics (title of his current, 3rd book, for which he is currently on a 50-state tour.)

The book has been out for a while, but as this is the first mention, hey! There it is.

Btw, lots of web and animation designers buy his books for the ideas, not just comic artists.

:-D That's so cool--I've had Making Comics sitting next to Understanding Comics and Reinventing comics for a while now, but haven't gotten to it yet.

He also mentions "Buffy and Spike" later in the book, in a list of iconic couples or something like that. He must be a fan.
He's definitely a fan. I attended one of his Q&A's recently and he cited "Earshot" to illustrate a point.

Seriously? I own that book! (But, er, obviously have yet to read it.) Still. Cool.
