Serenity LA tickets now on sale. Starfury's first Firefly/Serenity con, slated for November 2nd through November 4th, has tickets on sale as of this afternoon. Includes a "half now/half later" payment option for those who weren't sure they could pay it all up front.

I refresh Whedonesque. Nope, no link yet. Type up real quick post. B!x still beats me with the post.
I'm freakish that way. And, likely, in any number of other ways.
Yeah, well, my tags were better. Especially when you consider that at least I had some :)
It won't let me order. Says 'Please fill in all fields', and highlights the "Shipping type" field -- which only says "Choose".
You don't get a drop-down, gossi? I had a drop-down.
Got mine - squeeeeee!!!!!

Gossi, try refreshing the page. That shipping field should have a dropdown menu with two shipping options: DHL and FedEx.
Nope. Doesn't work on Firefox or Safari on my Mac, nor Internet Explorer on my work (Windows) PC.
Yeah I just did a testrun and the delivery dropdown no longer is presenting any choices, it seems.
Just tried it again and it worked this time.
gossi, does this mean you are gracing our shores this November?
Apparently we indeed get to see if the Verse implodes should gossi and I ever be in the same room at the same time.
My head may actually explode if I met theonetruebix and danregal at the same time. So, you know, if anybody wants to kill me..
And rob us of the spectacle of an exploding head?

Back on topic for a minute. Did someone drop out and the twins get added? I haven't looked at the site since it was first announced until today.
I don't think anybody dropped out, unless I'm wrong. They're still adding people to the line up, I think.

Looks like they sold about 100 tickets so far, if the order numbers are anything to go by.

Some orders, also, are for more than one ticket. So one order number could be one ticket, or, say, five tickets.

ETA: Wow. This thread is almost all danregal, gossi, and theonetruebix.

Hi. I have nothing to say, apart from not being danregal, gossi, or theonetrueb!x. Or BrewBunny *waves*. But, gods, would I want to be in that room when they meet! ;-)
Maybe HAKEN from fff.net can go too. And Simon and whoever from here. There could be a SUPER Browncoat panel to discuss charity things, and running fan websites, and organizing surprise conventions when your convention gets cancelled. AND SOMEBODY HAS TO VIDEO THE HEAD EXPLODING MEETING!
gossi,

Whoo-hoo! You got an ad for Serenity LA on http://www.serenitymovie.org
*waves back at billz* :-)

In honor of the forthcoming sooperdoopershindig, I present you all An Exploding Head. Enjoy!
I booked my ticket yesterday - looking forward to crossing the pond for the first time and meeting many new American type browncoat peeps.
Sure wish I could go on the Browncoat Cruise And go to the Convention of Exploding Heads, but alas... *sighs*
I think also that some of the tickets sold were for their other convention as well. So it'll be interesting to see what ticket number people actually end up with based on what was actually in their order form.

You know, I'm loathe and reticent to say this (and it's going around a lot in private, but no one seems to want to say it in public), but all things considered at this point, there seems to be something of a project management problem on the Cruise end.

Which isn't meant to suggest (either from myself or anyone else I've heard that comment from) that they aren't CAPABLE of planning an event of this type, but at this point an increasing number of people are really rather unsettled at the notion that perhaps they ought not to have ever launched the effort until AFTER the ducks were in a row.
Theonetruebix: I think your comments are important, we saw from the Flan2 fiasco that even when the event is completely sold out and being run by people who have successfully run events before, there is no guarantee about ducks being in anything resembling a row.

Of course I still question the advisability of Serenity LA being run from overseas, and I worry what damage could be done to our fandom if we have two (or even three) failed events back to back. But I sincerely hope that my pessimism is proved wrong by the events.
I think with the Cruise it's just a case of that they have never done this before and are trying to cross various hurdles (the other two cons being big hurdles) as they come across them. They've had various stumbling blocks along the way - but I'm sure they'll work it out in the end - and next year they will be more prepared.

As for Starfury - Sean has said that most if his life is actually in LA now which is why he is moving his conventions over there. So if that is the case it's the UK cons that he has been running from overseas lately - and they've been run very well. Even were that not the case, it must surely be harder to run a con in the UK when the guests all live in the US.

I don't really give a stuff about Creation, but I really hope Starfury and the Cruise do well.

Again, not to be the whinger here, but the issues I keep hearing people gripe to me about have nothing to do with the other events. That excuse doesn't really hold up under scrutiny.

They put sales up without ever having read the documentation/terms/agreement which limited the amount of sales they could do, and so sales were interrupted. The sales/tracking system which was constantly "30 days away" never materialized. No one knows when the next payment is going to be, because now they're doing reminders and calculations by hand, and so there's basically no schedule whatsoever anymore, and it's throwing their customers' financial planning into disarray.

None of that has to do with Starfury or Creation, and everything to do with project managagement.

I don't mean to be b*tchy about it here, but honestly, I'm tired of hearing people express all these concerns to me privately (as if there's anything I can do about it) and not just stating them openly.

I didn't mean that the other cons were the ONLY hurdles, just that they WERE hurdles. Obviously I don't know what has been said to you and I've not really been keeping up with what has been going on as I'm not going anymore, but these things you mention do sound like they're going through a 'learning curve' with setting this up for the first time. Maybe I'm just too quick to give people the benefit of the doubt. After all, it's not my money they're playing with.
Hi Bix - thanks for the feedback, I've posted a big update on our messageboard:
