It's not really a season as it's not a bunch of smaller stories, but one gigantic, epic tale.
So let's officially put SEASON 6 references to bed, all hail ANGEL: THE THING THAT JOSS CALLED IT AT NEWSARAMA!

I still have my fingers crossed that this will follow the same pattern as Buffy Season 8 and go from a set number of issues to being a pretty much unlimited ongoing series, sales being what I imagine they will be.
Having said that, continuing the story of Angel and his team may work better in more limited series anyway. 12 issues telling the immediate events that happened after the alley as planned could be volume one, followed up by a second 12 issue series telling another story and so on. Not "seasons" but rather arcs. Maybe I'm just being greedy but with Buffy's series seeming to be going on indefinitely I'd like to see Angel's story go on for as long as possible too.

So Brian, I have faith that you and Joss will come up with something great! Please don't let me down! ;)

Liked 'After the Fall' the first time it appeared, still don't hate it. Wonder if there'll be any mention of dates at Comicon ?

So, Brian, what's it like working with Joss?
gossi | July 12, 21:55 CET
Seriously, we'll have a ton of info for you, along with some awesome, you know, visuals. I implore all of you guys to get the word out to all ANGEL fans, we won't let you down.
I must say, I'm kinda glad it's not ANGEL: SEASON 6 when all is said and done, because the storyline feels like one big movie. Or two movies. Well, three movies, like that trilogy about the rings. Only without the nineteen endings, and (slightly) less homoerotic.

BAWAAAAWAA...well, as long as it's only VERY slightly less homeoerotic.
Seriously though Brian, I hope that you and IDW will just maybe, pretty please, consider keeping the story going beyond 12 issues. Even if you have to come up with another catchy title for the next 4 or 5 uhmmmm.... movies. I'm sure you will have lots of fans ready and willing to shell out our hard earned cash for them.

For the love of all that is Whedony, don't go there, Saje. Last thing we need around here is that debate again. ;)
Like I said further up, if this story is going to have a definite beginning, middle and end over a specific number of issues then calling it a "season" doesn't really work as well as with the Buffy series. Definitely better to call it a canon, comic-based movie event type thing.
The first in a ongoing series of canon, comic-based movie event type things... ;)
Buffysmglover | July 12, 22:44 CET
Which is fine by me.
And I love the idea of one big epic story.

When will this deconstructivist madness end ?
I think there will be mention of dates, yes. For instance, my fiancee and I have a date at the Eisner Awards later in the evening, so I'll be talking about that a lot at the panel.
Need ... sides ... unsplitting. Please ... call ... 911 (then hangup and call 999 because 911 won't work over here). Dude, you should totally write comics or something ;).

(I was reading the phone book the other day* and found '112' is an alternative emergency number which is apparently internationally recognised in Europe, including the UK, and which I had never, ever heard of. See, and people think reading the phone book is a waste of time)
* not all of it obviously. I skipped the boring letters

In comparison, "plain old canon" is much plainer and older.
(AFAIK, 'Angel: Season-not-even-an-even-number-it's-that-far-from-6' is totally and utterly canon being as how it's Joss overseen. But if an argument breaks out you didn't hear it from me ;)

Don't think the official comics matter because the only true "canon" part of the story is what you see on television? Overruled! Whedon-canon!
See how easy that was? Now there is absolutely no chance of any further canon/not-canon arguments breaking out. Everyone can live peacefully, safe in the knowledge that Whedon-canon is in place.
Riiiight...
Joking aside, this Angel series will be showing events after Not Fade Away according to how Joss says they went down. It being his little universe, I take that as canon.
Buffysmglover | July 13, 02:54 CET
Assume you are joking, but that Whedon-canon you defined is just plain canon.
zeitgeist | July 13, 07:16 CET
Plus, Whedon-canon sounds kinda cool. :)
