I'm in ur dark alleyz. The lolcat phenomenon gets adapted for the Buffyverse fandom. The Firefly equivalent can be found over at lolfirefly on LiveJournal.

The Firefly ones were somewhat better, of the mildly amusing variety. The Buffy ones just fell flat mostly.

I can waste hours looking through hundreds of lolcats. Love them.

I had no idea we were linked here until *just* now.

To answer that quote above....I ran across the lolbuffy community and found it interesting. I never really thought about doing tv shows as opposed to cats. I liked most of the Buffy ones and thought, "OoOo I should make a Firefly one." My bff had the same idea so we created it together. In no way were we "challenging" the Buffy fandom to do better work. In my first post I even credit lolbuffy as inspiring me to create lolfirefly. I enjoy messing around on Paint Shop Pro and thought, "What better way to waste many many hours than to waste them on something Firefly related." The result was lolfirefly.

I live by the "you can't please everyone all the time" theory. So, I realize not everyone will find these funny but I enjoy making them and that's enough for me.

death is my gift, I liked the Firefly ones better than the Buffy ones. I hadn't looked at the Firefly ones earlier when I made the first comment, which is why I made the second comment. Neither of which were entirely clear, my apologies. I meant my challenge comment as more of a comment about inspiration and potential fun. I don't usually like lol memes, so I'm not really your intended audience, but I do occasionally find some of them to be hilarious. So it says a lot if I saw these and thought "meh" overall but liked a few of them. I don't like any memes in most collections I see. I look through them anyway sometimes because when I find one funny, it's really funny. Like Jayne licking his knife.

I hear what you're saying. I wasn't upset or anything. Takes a bit more than a little negative feedback on the internet to do that.

Where the frak is the badgerbadgerbadger one? I can't find it anywhere! I have to say though, that I found the Firefly ones hilarious and the Buffy ones so-so, though the "OMGWTFBBQ!" made me laugh really really hard.

I think one of the problems is that a lot of the pics are too small. It detracts from the style a little bit.

Funnily enough, speaking of the Time article, that's what got me to start looking for lolcats...I had seen them before, but never really checked them out...and now I love them.

Having spent a lot of time on Fark I am familiar with lolcats. I think they're funnier if you're familiar with the cat versions they're based on and as a spoof/homage. The lolcats are funny in their own right.

I never saw lolcats until the Flickr discussion started. Even though they're cats, I keep going back and finding myself...well...lol. (Gee, thanks, Willowy & Caroline. Yet another website I visit daily.) I found the Firefly ones amusing--thanks death is my gift. The Buffy ones, not so much, but for some reason, Dawn in italics made me chortle. And QuoterGal, yours was the best lolbuffy yet. Please do more.
