Video: The Geek Beat talks to Jewel Staite. Andy from The Geek Beat interviewed Jewel Staite at Comic Con. She talks about her role(s) on Stargate Atlantis, the joy of wearing appliances, how Dr. Keller is different from Simon Tam, and her continuing love for Firefly.

Note: the sound is uneven -- technical difficulties and, you know, Comic Con.

That is soo awesome thanx for the link! Even in SGA, she saids she is loyal to the firefly fandom, and prefers Kaylee's character. And people wonder why I am such a fanboy for firefly. And I loved how she said Simon needs to have 1 or really 4 martinis to compare with Dr Keller.
Brilliant, thanks for that. I love when she says of her character stuff like "she's a lot smarter than she gives herself credit for", it's like Jewel's a fan of the character she's playing, like she's cheering her on, just as (i'm sure) we will be.

And from interviews etc. i'm not amazed that David Hewlett is the Nathan style tease, he seems sarky in all the right ways. Hmm, if Nathan and Jewel have a 'bird' competition what can Hewlett and Jewel do ?

(haven't checked but I bet he's got an online presence too, didn't he used to run a web-design company or something ? In fact, i've no idea if it's true but I read online somewhere that he's related to that Hewlett, so tech's clearly - possibly - in the blood)
Saje - "He ran Darkyl Media, a web site design firm. He also founded Fusefilm.com, an internet community for filmmakers." So sayeth the gods of wiki...
Aha, ta zeitgeist. Doctor Who fan (Tom Baker, as you'd imagine, him being born in '68 would make him 5 ish and up when Baker's best stuff was on - exactly the age folk get hooked on 'their' particular Doctor) plus sci-fi/computer nerd. Knew there was a reason I liked reading him in interview. Must try and look out "A Dog's Breakfast" sometime.

Strange though, since I read that about him and Bill Hewlett being related (think it was distant cousins) i've never seen it mentioned anywhere ever again. Reckon it was just random intarwebs rumour.
Could be :) I, myself was hooked on Tom Baker on PBS when I was around 6-ish. I have managed to *cough* accumulate a fairly complete pile of the Baker Years, but haven't sat down to watch them just yet. One always worries that what delighted one in childhood may not necessarily hold up to later viewing. My lovely wife, meanwhile, has declared there to be no Doctor but David Tennant (cheekily, I would add, "...and RTD is his prophet."). Just to be funny, though, that addition. As all and sundry are perhaps sick of hearing, I truly believe Moffat to be his prophet, which, rather disturbingly, rhymes.
um... David Hewlitt has a huge online prescense it is how he has marketed his movie a dogs breakfast...and he has a twitter account on top of that. Go to http://www.adogsbreakfastmovie.com to see his site, and you can check out his blog entries he is a hilarious person, and you can see his twitter account there... its surreal that he twitters almost every day. I think he has an addiction...

I think though he is a bit different in his humour than Nathan Fillion. He is definitely geekier and his humour can be quite offbeat or rather more embarassing.

Also you can check out a few videos he did : http://www.youtube.com/user/h0rrid its um... priceless :P Check out the rap video before the apology, trust me its worth it :P

ETA: I am having alot of problems accessing whedonesque... I cant be the only one, i am getting the inferneal grr argh like 10 times when im trying to post this comment!

We were really lucky to get this interview. When I originally rsvp'd, only group interviews were possible. Jewel was such a....jewel and we couldn't have been more thrilled.
