November 30 2007

Benz and Baldwin shows, Dexter and Chuck get loving from the Satellite Awards. The Intl. Press Academy has announced the nominees for the 2007 Satellite Awards. Both Chuck and Dexter get many nominations.

Sadly Julie and Adam are not personally honoured.Grrr

I'm surprised we aren't hearing more about Mad Men. Is it getting any award recognition? It's been the best series this past season. I personally liked it much better than Pushing Daisies, which I think is up for some kind of Best New Series award (saw it mentioned on E News last night).
I know about "Mad Men". It was a very good series, and I'm hoping it will get noticed at the Golden Globes. We should know more when their nominations are announced in a couple of weeks.
Also, remember Amy Adams and "Enchanted" are getting noticed, too.
Wait, Shoot 'Em Up is a comedy?

Thumbs up for Chuck and Dexter!
I wish Jennifer Carpenter had been nominated. She's such an incredible actress.
Jennifer Carpenter is gold on Dexter. I liked her a lot in Season 1 as well, but felt that Julie Benz was the standout actress that year. In Season 2 though I think Carpenter sometimes steals the show.

Dexter is still strong, btw, for those who're waiting for the Season 2 DVDs or haven't seen a lick of it. No sophomore slump witnessed.

I plan on renting Mad Men. Kartheiser insures that, among other talents in that series.

Friday Night Lights gets so much praise and I could rent it (heck, I could buy it for the extremely reasonable price they're asking in stores for that 22-episode first season), but any time I see a clip of the show or read about the plots, it doesn't make it sound all that appealing. And football ? I was surprised to enjoy the ESPN drama (the only one that network ever experimented with?) Playmakers that only lasted one season, but I'm not sure I need to see something similar again. And highschool shows, I have an aversion to them post-Buffy.

I wish Brotherhood would get more recognition. Big Love's second season was better than its first, so it's nice to at least see some acting noms.

Of the Best Pic nods, I've only seen Eastern Promises. Which I really liked, another win for Viggo and all, but Cronenberg had a tighter grip on things with History of Violence, IMO...as far as his recent, more mainstream fare goes.

Be pretty amused and happy if Flight of the Conchords wins for Best Comedic/Musical Series. Need to rent Weeds, one of the last few people I know who hasn't seen it and I fear being spoiled. Ugly Betty (seen lots, but not all of Season 1 and 2) and Pushing Daisies (seen a couple eps) are cute and nicely shot and acted and all, but...I dunno. Not worthy of the win, from what I've witnessed so far.

Far more interesting and varied choices than what you usually see with the Emmy Awards.
