Serenity: Collector's Edition for $8.99 at Best Buy!!! It's part of a big sale they are having on Special Editions. Amazon Buy New $8.99 too.

Wow! I really don't see how Universal discounting the CE that drastically is a good thing. Ouch! There may be a serious inventory build-up on the title. I hope I'm wrong...

Good - I've been waiting almost a month for Universal to get back to me about replacing the broken disc 1 from the set I bought in August and have never been able to watch. This is certainly cheaper than buying it full price again. And the $2 is worth not going into the hell that is Best Buy in December too.

I don't think it's a bad thing, necessarily. I mean, Seven, Momento, and Casino Royale are all--I would imagine--pretty big sellers, and they're getting the treatment too.

Those have all been out for quite awhile (as have almost all the movies on that list). The CE has only been out for a couple months. It is way too early for it to be discounted. Nope. I just don't think this is good.

I've been wanting this for sometime now. But Best Buy does not ship directly to Australia. Does anyone know of a convoluted genius way of getting BestBuy stock to Australia? Reimburse the postage costs to a Whedonesquer perhaps?

For comparison's sake, if you look at the full list of discounted special editions, there's an edition of Braveheart on sale that hasn't even been released yet( 12/18). But yeah, it's an older movie than Serenity. Also, Casino Royale was only released in March and hasn't yet gone to a double-dip with a true special edition. Not terrible, but not great either. Look at is as good news for all of us searching for holiday gifts!

Got the last copy at our local Best Buy, so I'll be passing my copy of Serenity to a friend. Also passed the word on to my mom, who'll be doing similar tomorrow...
