(SPOILER) Buffy #12 solicitation for March. Plot details and cover for the first part of Drew Goddard's Tokyo arc "Wolves at the Gate." The variant cover can be found here.

"Acclaimed television series writer, Drew Goddard (Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Alias; Lost), takes the reins on Season Eight with his four-issue arc titled "Wolves at the Gate." The gang (yep, Dawn too) travels to Tokyo where they duel vampires with unusual, yet strangely familiar, powers."

Wow, 40 pages for this one! Drew Goddard is a phenominal writer; I'd love it if he came back and did more after this story arc.
Holy crap! Considering that's NOT Jo Chen doing that cover that is one frakkin' cool piece of art. And how awesome that UltimateDrew gets a full four-issue arc?

ETA: Just checked out Jon Foster's website (www.jonfoster.com) and I think I'm just as in love with this guy as I am with Jo Chen. Fantastic choice to fill in (take over?) for Jo.

(Anyone know if JC is no longer doing the covers or just taking a break?)

Jo has said in her Myspace blog that she will return soon.

For some reason before I realized what the title was, I thought those were maybe some of the people from Willow's place where she was when Warren was cutting in her eye. Silly me. It's a wolf, not a cowardly lion. LOL ;)
Loving the cover. There's not as much resemblance to SMG as there would have been if Jo Chen had drawn it, but it's a fantastic piece of art.

Also, yay! Drew Goddard!
In case you haven't explored the Dark Horse site already, they also have Georges Jeanty's alternate cover up too. It took me a second to realize that's Willow and Xander in the background. Will the Scoobs' trip to Japan have anything to do with Satsu, I wonder?

Hehe...Xander has boobs in the variant cover. =P

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I love this cover!
Uh-oh, its the Grudge!
So the Serenity mini-series isn't coming out in March after all?
This is sounding great. So if Dawn's going with them...does that mean she'll be un-gianted before #12? Or is she gonna go all Godzilla on Tokyo?

And Simon...gahh. If Better Days isn't coming out in March, I'm gonna cry.

Wow! Does anyone else find the evil trio looming over Buffy make them think of Spike and Dru flanking Angelus (the wolf)?
Wolves, eh? Good, bad, or what? I'm wondering if strangely familiar Oz might show up in Season 8?

Jon Foster's doing issue 11 and the arc that follows Haunt, Jo Chen may be back after that (though i'm with you, if she has to be replaced - for scheduling reasons apparently - then i'm totally happy with their choice).
*drool*

While I'll be ecstatic once Jo gets back, that is some yummy goodness right there. Reminds me of some work I've seen in White Wolf Games.

Jod, I hope so.
The new cover artist is okay, but it reminds me a little too much of the old, non-canon series. Which just conjures thoughts of "None of this matters at all". I know it's just been 2 issues so far, so I can't make a final judgement yet.
I love Jo Chen, but that is a beautiful cover. This Jon Foster guy has some serious game. Notice the faces in the designs swirling out from the trio? And the seeming "paws" that the two vamps have?

Methinks we may be seeing some vampire-werewolf hybrids.
