Shiny tribute to all nine of our "Big Damn Heroes". Possibly the most motivational video of... ever. All Firefly clips utilized line up rather precisely with the lyrics, too!

I was browsing through the site and was surprised to discover this had yet to be linked. So to contribute to the recent trend of linking to the very best "fanvids" out there - Firefly meets 80's music in a surprisingly apt way to the tune of Bonnie Tyler's "I Need A Hero". The first time I saw this video I had the overwhelming urge to get up and do a jig around my chair, it's just that good (I did proceed to actually do so, incidentally).

That was quite well done :) As an aside, every fanvid that gets posted is going to be scrutinized, as we are not fanvidesque.com. Likewise we don't need to post a link to every article or webcomic that has Joss' name in it. There should be actual news and new information in the article linked. This is not specific to this post, CZGoldEdition, but more a general heads up that we need to rein it in a bit in regards to what we post.

Ah, I apologize if this post was in excess, feel free to remove if anyone should deem it necessary. I just figured some folks might enjoy it. :)
Talking about fanvids, Whatever happened to the "Fix You" video (http://whedonesque.com/comments/12003)? I loved that. It's gone from YouTube. Anyone have a copy of it?
This is so well done, I hope you leave it here for others to enjoy.
Its all good, it was a general thing. I wasn't planning to pull this one down.
Hee, can't beat a bit of Bonnie ;). Someone must've done one to "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)", surely ?

It actually is really well done though, from what I can tell, the song says "hero" during pictures of the Serenifly women about as often as it does during pictures of the men BUT it doesn't say he (as in e.g. "he's gotta be strong") except when it's on the lads.

"White knight" coinciding with Mal looking a bit goofy rather than like a super-hero also really captures the spirit of 'Firefly'. And the timing of the "screams" etc. Very good.
zeitgeist, how do you all feel about people linking to favorite fanvids within the thread? I don't mean, ever, but rather as a "share you fav fanvid" thread to get it out of the system post-purplevid? Or, maybe that would lead to complete and utter chaos. I'm unsure myself.
Oh complete and utter chaos is something I would like to see (but maybe that is just me). I really enjoyed this video, I hadn't seen it before, but it could have used a tad more Zoe.
This has been one of my favourite fanvids for a long time. One of the things I particularly enjoy is the various takes on what makes a hero. Kaylee getting Serenity moving again, Simon taking out a bullet, Wash piloting them away from danger. As well as the more obvious gunplay.
That fanvideo is the reason there is fanvideo, seriously. I hope Joss sees it and emails the link to his whole cast to make them all blush.
i thought it was very well done (plus the song is one of my guilty pleasures). i agree that the cool thing about the vid is that it doesn't just put mal as the hero, everyone gets their moment
Sunfire - I think its a great idea to do it in comments or maybe at flickr or .org. Just want to sidestep it taking over the front page.
My wife will be happy to see this one since it seems to collect all the "shirtless guy" footage in one place :)
AmnesiaInnocent- did some hunting around, and it's been posted for download at the vidder's LJ - http://zeta0497.livejournal.com/105743.html#cutid1.
Thanks for that link, Serefina. I really loved that video.

But you know what I'm surprised hasn't been made yet, in light of the new comic? A fanvid set to Goo Goo Dolls' "Better Days." I've already associated the two in my head :)
Cool. Thanks, zeitgeist. I didn't have a Firefly fanvid in mind, actually. But I did start a thread for Buffy Season 8 opening credits over on .Org.
Oh my god. THe two spots in the song where there's a double scream of "ahhh ahhh" are just too funny. I love it. Thanks for sharing!
I'm adding ShamelesslySingingRennie's link to Cytherea Rose's Firefly Music Videos here, in view of Zeitgeist's words above.

As Shamelessy put it:

"High-larious fanvideo of Firefly set to Weird Al's 'Your Horoscope.'

This video, and the way that the clips are matched with the lyrics, perfectly describe our favorite crew's misadventures and bad luck in a manner that could only be described as wacky fun! It's available for download along with three other Firefly music videos."
Serafina716 I typed in the LJ address you posted (for the vid to Fix You)on both my browsers and got "no matches". I've had this problem before, trying to Google someone's LJ. Any advice?

If this isn't a proper use of this thread, could you PM me? Much appreciation ;)
No, it's there alright (thanks, Serafina!)

The period at the end is part of the address...
Hmm, the link doesn't work for me. :(

EDIT: Oh, never mind, looks like YouTube itself is down right now.

The "I need a hero" fanvid has long been my favourite along with Cyntherea Rose's "Your Horoscope". Does anybody know where I could download the Wicked fanvid as a .wav instead of watching on YouTube?
Thanks for adding my link in there! I adore that video. But that Hero fanvid is amazing! :D
