Does UPN see the irony? The Christian Science Monitor says UPN undercut the meaning of BtVS by airing America's Next Top Model less than a minute after Buffy's last episode.

oh god, i remember that, it was greatly horrific. there i was getting all teary with my buffy finale and the fade in and then all of a sudden, AMERICAS TOP MODEL! and you see girls in lingerie prancing around in front of the camera and crying about wanting to be a model ahaha. i shut my tv off as fast as i could, it was definitely grotesque.
I get the criticism (which is valid, I think), but part of me wonders how fair it actually is. Most of the Buffy cast is visually pleasing (not to mention the extreme weight loss of all the female characters over the run of the show); Joss himself has said that it is something of an oxy-moron to have the "losers" of highschool look so good (especially Xander in the first three seasons). The message of the two shows obviously differs radicially, but don't you think that the medium is much the same? Pretty people...

Just a thought.
what difference does it make if Buffy has good looking people in it? they don't obsess over it and define themselves by it, dying to be exploited..
wow, i'm so glad that i watch buffy on a non UPN station and was spared being jarred out of my post finale reverie by such empty headed garbage.
Some (reality TV show called) High School Reunion was on after Buffy here. I was with a whole crowd of friends and we put on the season 2 DVDs and Donnie Darko instead. ;)
Oh, seriously. Everytime an ad break came on during the finale I was shouting at the TV - "Have some respect! Do you know that an era is ending here, and you're showing such utter claptrap afterwards? Jeez! And get your little bug/watermark/text ad for that show off my TV while "Buffy" is still on."

I spit upon you, UPN. After the finale was over I declared that I'm never watching UPN on purpose ever again. And I mean it!
Come to the UK and watch a programme on Sky One called "Beam me up Totty", a show devoted to the best looking women on Star Trek. Then pray it never happens to BtVS.

One major criticism I have had with UPN during season 7 is their woeful promotion of Buffy on their website. The WB did a far better job promoting Angel and I miss the old buffy.com website.
yup, and before it aired, there was a 'Model' promo as well---sort of took away the ambiance. Glad I taped it, so I could just zip through the crapola!

Simon, 'Beam me up Totty'? Are you serious??? Well, if it's on the UK, I am sure that the US will soon do some type of copy-cat show, like 'Beam me up Hotty'. Oy!
On a related note, I thought this was funny.
For the entire season I hated not having a UPN affilate and having to download all the episodes ... which took forever to get a watchable file. Thankfully I was able to download the finale in record time ... an unpresented night before its airring instead of the usual two days later!!! Thanks all to all the "criminals" who made that possible ... while I would like all that time back I spent milking Kazaa for those episodes it's nice to know I didn't have to endure all the UPN garbage.

If had to watch the openning of "America's Top Model" after the "we are all slayers montage" I would've started throwing stuff at the screen.

Buffy admittely has some good looking females on it ... all of who could pretty much use a burger, but I'd like to think that each of them at least do not come out of the same cookie cutter mold.
