Sarah Michelle Gellar reaffirms commitment to 'Alice'. SMG talks about "Alice" the twisted version of Alice in Wonderland she hopes to play.

Still though, this seems years off. If circumstances didn't halt it enough, the writer's strike will certainly add a few years.

I think what it has to do with Goners is which if either will get made first. They've both been talked about for a long time with little progress mentioned for either. At least that's what I am thinking.
Anyway it was one of the best games I have ever played and it could work quite well as a movie so lets all hope and pray and wish and dream and sing that it gets made and its good.

For those who attended the ME day at Fox, the writer of the screenplay of Alice is Erich Hoeber who was the WGA Strike Captain that day and even came to the picnic. He wrote Whiteout, starring Kate Beckinsale, which is out soon.

Nice guy, hope for his sake, and SMGs (SMPs?) that it works out soon.

Unfortunately, that photo/poster makes the film look like typical slasher fare, which for her sake and getting typecast in horror films, I hope it isn't.

That's the first news of "Alice" I've heard in a long time. Between this and JM saying (hoping) the Spike project may not be dead afer all - (I read that in a TV guide interview - Jan.22-27), I can only say - Bring 'em on, already ! And may I add -PLEASE !!!

The illustration with the article has nothing directly to do with the film as such.

As to Gellar being typecast, her last five films - 'The Return', 'Southland Tales', 'Suburban Girl', 'The Air I Breathe' and the soon-to-be-released 'Possession' - have not been "horror" films, although two do fall into the category of "supernatural thrillers". I am not sure that can be classed as typecasting, although I do get the point that a lot of people perceive her as being typecast as a "Scream Queen".

I kinda actually hope Goners happens first. what little I have heard makes it sounds very interesting. though I love the idea of a twisted version of AiW. As long as it's NOT a silly horror movie... and now I see it's a game.
Well,then, that's something I'd like to play.

Sorry to temporarily hijack the thread. Back to the topic at hand: If Goners is set aside indefinitely, I shall cry. Heartily. I've been dying to know more about it since Joss announced it in 2004. Damn.

Yeah, has to be said we all hope the Spike movie's not dead - that and a quid will buy you a cup of tea and a biscuit (outside of London anyway ;).

No offence to the guy zz9 but he adapted 'Whiteout' since it's based on the excellent comic by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber (unless they just threw the book out the window which would be a great shame). Could be very, very good - Carrie Stetko is a heroine in the Jossian mold - it's really up to the film-makers to not screw it up. Fingers crossed ;).

Off Topic, the DGA have settled a deal. Headline figures look good, but the fine print is not that good. "Yes, we'll pay residuals for promotional use, but not for the first 17 days, only after that" for example.

I love this game so much. And I've been so looking forward to SMG being in the movie. I heard someone else had been cast, though ?

And, as far as the "slasher film" comment.. it IS a bloody game where Alice has to kill many things with many different weapons. So, yeah, it might be kind of slashery.. o_O

Ah, no biggie zz9, props where they're due s'all ;). And Erich Hoeber being a scribe himself i'm sure he wouldn't claim more than his fair shake either, didn't mean to imply that.

(hmm, is that DGA deal good enough for the WGA to build on or does it compromise in all the wrong places ? Hope they haven't cut the ground out from under the writers' - and actors' - feet)

I feel like this movie has the potential to be either awesome beyond belief, or truly terrible. Personally, I'm rooting for the first option.
As much as I'm looking forward to the movie, I'd like to see Sarah in some other type of movie, less... horror-y. But on the other side, she seems excited about the project, and seems to enjoy scary movies, so I will support her in whatever she chooses, without question.

'Alice' was a obsession of mine, at one stage. To this very day it's the reason my family won't let me own a playstation, xbox or wii!

Heaven help me if they release a new game version when/if the movie DOES come out!

Though, the movie talk has been bandied around for about 8 years, so no need to hold your breath. (Another reason why vampires do so well in LA, right?!)
