The Nexus reviews Astonishing X-Men #24. The issue will be, to quote Mark Stoddard, 'the penultimate issue of this stellar run'.

The one before Giant Size Astonishing X-Men #1 is reviewed with all but a standing ovation, in all fairness and with plenty of detail. Penultimately stellar, then?

Yes, it is indeed the second-to-last issue of the run, which is what penultimate means. :-)

Didn't read the review because the shipment of AXM #24 didn't make it to my comic store last week (boo) and I'm away this week (yay) but it means I'll have to wait another week to get it (boo).

It won't be, it was. Unless they do a surprise #25 (not happening), that fact can never be changed. Unless you're strange and disagree that it wasn't "stellar."
