Slightly more info on Buffy Reunion event.
AICN reports that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reunion portion of this year's Paleyfest (previously discussed here) will be March 20 (with the Chuck event on March 18, and the Mad Men event on March 27). Also mentions the plan for ticket prices and availability.

It's a cinch Joss will be there, but let's hope, along with Nick and Alyson, Amber will be there, too, or maybe David Boreanaz or Eliza Dushku or James Marsters or even Nathan Fillion. With a lineup like that, this ticket will be more valuable than Hannah Montana--and should be.

I have to disagree and don't believe there should be any "should" about it, which makes it seem like after all these years, she finally owes it to the fans to show up. Honestly, after reading all the SMG bashing on AICN, why should she expend herself for that kind of response? I don't think she owes anyone anything and I never have. She gave an amazing performance for 7 years and when asked, has never said a bad word about Buffy. Her going to conventions doesn't prove or disprove her appreciation of the show. If she wants to come, good for her. If not, I'm not going to help the angry mob light their torches.
I think we can safely assume the usual convention crowd(NB, JM, AB, maybe ASH) will all be there and throw in Eliza Dushku as she's the new lead girl. Aly Hannigan is likely. I sincerely doubt Boreanz will show.

AICN is a taste of the Big Bad t'intarwebs World, not necessarily a good representation of fan opinion of SMG (which i'm aware is still, to say the least, split) and so not a disgrace to the fandom IMO since many of those posters aren't even Buffy fans (you can tell by how little they apparently know about her interviews where, when asked, she praises Buffy in the highest terms, talks about how proud she is to have been a part of it etc.).
And I agree, there's no "should", nothing owed anyone IMO, she's her own person and in that sense (among others) an excellent role model.

Sigh and alas but the $80-a-weekr-oom-living-on-hard-salami-and-canend-soup lifestyle doesn't include going to suche vents. But I'm curious as to who will show. And how things like this are done; are they paid appearances like cons & store openings or are these considered news events , or eprhaps soemthing in-between?
I recall the 30th Annuversary get-together for MASH. featuring every above-the-title cast membeer still alive (I don't recall any no-shows) plus one of the recurring guests. I once did soem arithmetic and figure they'd need at least 30 people to do BtVS alone that way.

I'm not sure how much like a "regular" convention this event is - are there going to be Q&A sessions, photo ops, autograph signings? Or is it just going to be a panel-type format, where everyone sits at a table and fields questions? Or is it a mingle?
When I got off the plane in Detroit in '05, someone who'd been on the flight asked me what brought me to the city. I told him I was there for a "Buffy" convention, and he asked me if "Buffy herself" was going to be there. I told him that Sarah doesn't attend cons, and he thought that was rude of her. I said it's not that she's dissing her fans, but she's usually too busy with movies to get away for a weekend.
When I was trying to put together my own convention, we'd considered getting David, since "Bones" was brand new at the time. Unfortunately there'd have been no way we could have afforded his fee. (The whole not having money thing is what killed my convention.) I know that smaller fan-held conventions can't afford the big names, which might lead to some fans saying "Such and such NEVER does conventions" because they are only aware of the smaller conventions they can afford to go to.
Of course, something as huge as the Paley Center can no doubt afford the entire cast, if they desire, especially given the price tag on their tickets.
Sometimes I really hate having access to the 'net - I keep hearing about all these great conventions and fan get-togethers I can't afford to go to.

If she were to attend ... ... it will offer more fuel to those factions in the fanbase who want to demonise her, who will no doubt conclude she only did it because her career is "washed up" or some such nonsense.
Time has seen a definite improvement in general attitudes towards certain "issues", but if Gellar has any awareness of what goes on she is probably very glad to be out of it.

From what I remember, it's usually a panel. But maybe that varies.
Samantha | January 30, 23:41 CET
I'm not certain I want her going to this one.
Kyotoyoshi | January 30, 23:45 CET
Exactly. And well-said, alien lanes. She is pretty much in that damned if you and damned if you don't position at this point. Like I've said, I wouldn't blame her for not attending, for whatever her reasoning.
syd | January 30, 23:56 CET
She can record a lovely little 60 second message for it saying how much the show meant to her, bid 'howdy' to the cast, thank the fans and then graciously go.
