(SPOILER) Variant cover for Buffy #14. The cover is now online at the Dark Horse site.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that both standard and variant covers have the same basic premise?

Man alive do I love those covers, though. Jeanty goes for the all-out laugh, whereas Foster's Godzilla-Dawn (Dawnzilla?) is slightly more elegant. Which is weird to think about, really.
Yeah I agree, I like Jon's cover because you can't really see Dawn's face, which sort of adds to the 'monster' quality.
That look on Dawnie's face on the variant cover just screams "thrall." She has a totally blank stare like she doesn't mind that she's about to step on her sister and Xander and everyone.

She is totally the weapon.
What's up with the colors in Jeanty's covers recently? I know it might be a concept, but they're way, way too bright... That being said, this cover is the best of the two. It bugs me that we can't even see Dawn's face in Foster's. Foster's cover could be for any series. With Jo Chen, we always knew it was a BtVS cover. Darn. Foster had a good start, too. Buffy looked strange on #11, but he nailed Twilight. That was a good cover. His #12 was great. One of my favorites. But his #13 was the worst painted cover of the series until #14 took that title. I can't wait until Jo Chen's return for #16. I hope Foster at least delivers a decent #15.
Vortigun, you misspelled "solicitation." Fix it quick before a mod subtracts precision points ;)

Aside from being under a dark spell, isn't Dawn also bigger than she was in Scotland?
I like both these covers very much. Dawnzilla STOMP! (Or step rather carefully but destroy stuff anyway, as it were.)

Japan + Giant Dawn= Godzilla homage

That's too fun a concept not play with.
And here I was about to post that I don't get the Jeanty love when I find all there is here. Maybe it is because I am still new to comics but his artwork does nothing for me. Just too, too comic-y.
Xander and Renee appear to be wearing matching outfits. I don't know if I should go "awwwwww" or "bleagh".
Dawn's the Cloverfield monster!
I guess once these things move off of the main page, it's okay to repost. Especially with a variant like that. I like to be consistent, but with this next arc, I might have to switch between painted and Jeantied versions. Georges' #15 is sparktacular.
I thought it was odd that the cover images were released for Issue 15 first, but I naturally assumed this cover must have major spoilers in it. Now I just think it's odd the covers were only held back so they could be released on Valentine's Day.
I have no problem with comic book covers looking comic-y. I guess the reason behind having 2 covers is to find one you love and buy that. Or, as the majority of us do, just go hog wild and buy them both!

The variant cover looks like Dawnzilla's about to squash Renee down to Slayer-Meat. I just KNEW the minute she and Xander hooked up that she was SO toasted.
What are ya'll talking about "two" covers? I only see Dawn's giant foot. Where's the variant?
We already saw the Foster cover a couple of days ago when CaptainB posted the info but the variant cover wasn't available then. So I'v reworded the entry accordingly.
Hmm. Not digging Georges' cover here. Definitely prefer Jon's.
I gotta get me this cover.
And they threw in the Mutant enemy logo! Me likes!
Dawnzilla is the coolest thing they have ever done with the character - I hope she never goes back to being small!
But of course [snerk-snerk] Japanese movie monsters are much more than 60 feet tall normally....
Very pleasing to the eye. My favourite so far.
