"The Power of Fan Websites" at the Paley Center in New York. Discussion of the power of fandom in creating meaning and aiding development in television. (Scroll down, on the right - Whedonesque will attend).

Hee. I do hate keeping secrets.
Let the merciless haranguing of zeitgeist begin now!
Zeitgeist, sign my arm! In fact, sign my man breast.
Oh this is VERY cool! And can we find a way to make sure there are videos available, because I would happily pay or even pre-pay!
That is cool. Very cool. Sub-zero, in fact. Will there be hecklers groupies?
Way cool. Extra vote on the vid!
Simon- you must, of course, make public note that you have this one hard-core reader-response guy on your site who is relentless in his comments.... :-)

Happy to make the post here, did not know why you had not yet listed it.

Just one?
Our logo do look pretty over there...
If no vid, I hope there are transcripts at least. :)

Didn't know when the details would go up on their site. Good on you for spotting it. Once this goes off the front page, I'll put a link on the side bar to this thread for our East Coast posters who might be going. I'd love to be at the event myself as I am sure many others would be as well. It is a hell of an honour for Whedonesque. And I would like to say it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for you guys.
I would love to go to this.
Cool to see the TWOP and Whedonesque logos together. My decision to start Whedonesque as well as the way we run this place was heavily influenced by my (positive) experiences on TWOP.
Congrats to Whedonesque and to Zeitgeist for representing the wonders of Whedonesque.
Will zeitgeist be wearing orange?
Congratulations to the orang-ies on this very well deserved honor.
I've always said that Whedonesque was the best damn site in this 'verse. And, possibly, other 'verses too.

Wish I could be there, but New York? Even further away than L.A!

I will, however, be looking forward to the transcript.
Twitter feed, anyone?
Oh, see what happens when my sister comes to visit? I miss the actual announcement :)
Congratulations zeitgeist & you others responsible for my favorite place on the web.
And be sure to post the picture of yourself signing gossi's man-breast.
Oh, if gossi were to show up that photo op would so happen.
Wow, wish I could attend this.

Congrats, z. And congrats to Whedonesque!
Very cool, zeitgeist, good for you and WHEDONesque - and I'm sure you'll also mention that in addition to "... the influence of fan sites on programming, the culture of actively engaged critical communities, and their position in the 'legitimate" critical landscape..." that this here awesomest fan site spawns and supports positive political activity - from CSTS Screenings for Equality Now to protesting the Dua Khalil outrage, and then most recently Fans4Writers backing the WGA strike.

I mean, I never thought for a moment when I signed up here in 2006 that for the love of Joss I would get all politically active again, but it was he and folks here at the site that inspired me to do it...

And even if you don't wear an orange jumpsuit ; > for your talk, z, you should be sporting something orange - as well as (hopefully) a lovely barest_smidgeon.
I think this years Paley fest should go on tour.
And then come to New Zealand.........sigh.

Congrats guys
So great! Congrats all of you!
Congrats to everybody involved. And now I'm going to die of envy for who's attending in a dark corner.
If no vid, I hope there are transcripts at least. :)

Something about the intense Internet-ness of this suggests that we shouldn't be left out in the dark. I'm just thinking.

Congrats, W!
Oh,how exciting. Kudos and air kisses to all!

And then to Hawaii .... more sighing ;)

Congrats to Whedonesque and zeitgeist, awesomeness abounds.
My my my... this is so cool. I'm grinning from one ear to the other. Congratulations, you guys! This is awesome.
Really great stuff!! This is a totally deserved nod to the good folks that run this site. Most websites out there are capable of intelligent, civil, thought provoking posts and comments but they accept so much less--thanks to the Whedonesque staff for being uncompromising!

The accolades have been piling up for some time; Now all that's missing is our own theme song...you guys think Nerf Herder is available? (What rhymes with Chip Butties?)
Hey, that's pretty neat. Congrats to the site!

Do I read this right? $10 single event admission to be signed by zeitgeist attend the one session as general public?
I'll definitely be going to support Whedonesque and z... crazy proud to be associated with both. (And I, for one, think TWOP should also be swooning at having their logo next to ours.)
That is so cool! And something I might be able to get too!

Yeah, we're at least as smart and witty, and not into snarkiness for it's own sake ;-)
Plus, the Joss posting factor. Definitely swoon worthy.
Wow, Whedonesque, Represent! Very exciting. Damon, have you been on a panel like this before?
I have not been on a panel like this before. Very exciting :)
I'm officially encouraging all eastcoaster Whedonesquers to represent - it's almost 99% certain that I'll be there to cheer on the big Z and us and them and revel in the fan-ness of it all.
