Vamp_Insurance quoted his connection. It's a line sung by Emma Caulfield (Anya) in "I'll Never Tell" from the Buffy musical episode, "Once More With Feeling."
oh yeah... I thought that the quote was just something americans use, like 'there's something rotten in the state of Denmark' or is that more of an english thing?
We're very fond of David Brinkley in the US; he is (or was) almost as venerable as Walter Cronkite. Anya's line in "I'll Never Tell" was virtually an homage, in a sweet, funny kind of way. So I don't think the reference and posting is disrepectful at all. Brinkley will be missed.
To be fair, when "David Brinkley Buffy" is put in as a search on Yahoo!, 1,950 results come up. I have no problem with the obscure post and I'm sad to hear Mr. Brinkley has passed away. The link on this site was the first place I heard about it.
A good friend, minutes after Brinkley's death was announced, sent me an email consisting only of the Anya line from "I'll Never Tell."
Obviously this is just a coincidence, but I found it a tad eerie and just a wee bit sad that Mr. Brinkley shuffled off the mortal coil just a few weeks after Anya herself did.
Tony Robbins is a motivational speaker, one of those relentlessly positive people trying to help you achieve more, reach your goals, yadda yadda yadda. He has a very funny appearance in the movie Shallow Hal that gives you a good idea what he's like.
