A fan report from the Rift. A good report on the Torchwood convention, with a nice bit about James Marsters.

I hope James is feeling better. I'll volunteer to be his nurse, would that help? It wouldn't be a bother, honest.
That boy needs to take better care of himself! I bet he's pushing himself too hard, again. *shakes head* My feelings for this man fluctuate from wanting to jump his bones to wanting to tuck him in bed and feed him chicken soup. Kinky, no? ;)

I know, that's what I've been thinking, he broke his poor teeth, and he looked exhausted at Paleyfest, and now the poor thing is sick :(. I just want to give him a hug and rub his back, like my mom does when I get sick.

Hey, I called nurse dibs first!

Didn't he also say he broke his hand? Time for some time off.
Whoops, double post. Stupid computer...

Nice, a double post! I wonder how that happens. Maybe JM is building up for a vacation?
I should hope so!
Thanks dulce_seremidad, great report. You can always count on lovejames for a no BS blow-by-blow ;-)
I hope James is better for Collectomania.

I saw a report from his concert last night, and apparently he is now well and back in fine form.

I can't help but imagine that someone might get some grief for posting something like this about a female cast member. I'm thinking specifically of all of the discussion about "sexiest" lists lately. Let's just try to be respectful, keeping in mind what you might type if you knew James was reading (wait, maybe thats a bad idea, it might get graphic ;)).
Yay, my poor huny is better again! He better stay that way, he needs to take better care of himself. :(

I think he needs to keep making hay while the sun shines. He is working, he seems to love performing and attending cons in general so I say - go for it James!
He has such a devoted (some would even say fanatical - *whistles innocently* - I am JUST KIDDING!!!) fanbase and it's nice that he tries to accommodate all of them at the cons. I've only ever read the kindest of reports about his behavior with the fans and autograph lines. He wasn't working much just a few short years ago so I think this is all just great news that he's back in the limelight again.

Not meaning to start a civil war of any kind, but "kinky" is not the first word that leapt to mind, and now I'm leaning a little bit more towards "yucky" or even "creepy."

I famously object to the "Ten Reasons I Want To Sleep With fill in female Whedon'verse actor here) types of threads, and I think this post is right smack in similar territory.

I so don't want WHEDONesque to be the place where the fans feel free to say they want to bang the actors of either sex, and which ones. It ain't fitting, it just ain't fitting.

BTW, for me, it's not about prudery or anything like that. I happen to think all of our Whedon'verse actors are pretty, pretty people, and I can deeply sympathize with folks that find them attractive.

I just want to mention that this is feels a little like fan entitlement - that we can say what we want about these folks 'cause we're their fans, and they're our people. But that is the point - regardless of how we project our fantasies on these actors, they are people, live human people - and they shouldn't have to cringe, for instance, if they were to come on to whedonesque to read a thread about themselves or their projects.

And neither should the rest of us.

Right-o. As you were.

ET: fix typo in the word "whedonesque" 'cause it's, you know, so hard to spell.

I agree w/QuoterGal.
Yep, I concur. My two cents is that these actors, crew/staff/writers are special to us and they should receive the respect they deserve, in tandem with their physical attractiveness which we find so appealing. I doubt there's many of us who haven't at one time or another thought, inside our heads, "Oh God in Heaven, he's so/she's so hot, gorgeous, beautiful, squeezable, etc. ..." in that prurient way that ought to stay in our heads. I'm not out to censor, but I think there's a slippery slope, a casualness about the way some refer to these folks, too oft expressed for comfort at times. And that casualness breeds a kind of disrespect that's as bad at times as right out, obvious over-the-line stuff that gets deleted here immediately.

Oh, god! *blushes* I never thought that what I'd said in jest would cause this. I'm so sorry! I'd merely wanted to show the extreme of both ends, but, I guess I went about it the wrong way and it was interpreted as such. I apologize if I projected myself in a manner like this.

And if James ever sees this, well, you should know that I hold your talent the biggest factor in my 'attraction' to you. To be completely honest, the whole "jumping" *wince* thing is the furthest from my mind (no, really, my friends think I'm a freak that way… I can't stop yapping about wanting to see James and William Fichtner on a project –preferably well written- after my wish about him and Michael Rosenbaum came true. There's a list. It'd take too long to name them all), the looks are a plus few can deny, but I derive most of my delight from the acting talent. *last time she will post something before she was less than 20% awake* to reiterate, sorry! *rushes off before she, yet again, makes a fool of herself*

Well, yes, I'm all for him working and everything, but when you hear that he's sick, or injured every other week, you kinda worry that he'll overtire himself and not be physically ABLE to perform at these things. I mean look what happend at the Rift. I really enjoy seeing him work, but if it means he's going to wither away, I hope he at least tries for some less physically demanding roles in the near future. But of course, I acknowlege that I'm just a fan and have no right to dictate what his life should be. It's just sad to see him so tired.
Mirage, I can't speak for anyone but myself, of course, but I've written stuff on whedonesque in my two-year (feels looonger) tenure on here that I would never write again in eleventy-kabillion years.

Fret-eth not. Yeppity, Ma'am.
Yeah, this whole half-way-between-speaking-and-writing thing can get pretty treacherous. Completely understand. (And I never look back at my previous posts, 'cause, you know, ugh!)
