(SPOILER) Dollhouse Exclusive Clip. Sneak peak at Dollhouse featuring Eliza Dushku and Tahmoh Penikett.

holy hell! i'm so excited!!!!
Jeez, just how much are they going to buzz this so far out from when it will actually air?
I know! Way to tease us - how are we supposed to wait until January?
This day is great! But it's only making the seven-month waiting period even harder.
whoa! i wanna see more!!!!
I expect that we will see the entire first episode in clips by January.
I expect that we will see the entire first episode in clips by January.

Or they could just let the Portland of Oregon exclusively show it in its entirety at its CSTS event this year.

I can dream, yes?

Dark! Mysterious! Bendy! (That "bendy" line was totally Jossian, but it didn't really work in context.)
Any idea who is doing the score ? I would love it if Chris Beck came back... but i don't know, we can't tell from what we hear in the clip.
I'm thinking that's not the music that will be in the actual episode. Could they have finished a score in less than a week?
Oh my God.

Today has been the best day in a long time. But I'm going to hope that the first episode gets released in its entirety before the actual premiere date. For if it is... well, then I'm having a D-House party.
Waah, now I can't get this one to play. I just get the Loading Player graphic over and over. I do not want to risk opening IE just to play this...
Dark! Mysterious! Bendy!

Polter-Cow, I'd say it's "shiny" as in shiny new clip-y goodness!

I really don't think this day could get any better, unless they decide to put the entire first episode online today, or Eliza Dushku shows up at my house.
It's great to see Eliza actifying again, I forgot how good she is.

I think Joss said once, maybe in a DVD commentray, that one of the reasons SMG was so good, was that she could bring you along into the scene, that you could get the emotion, the thought, the motivation for the scene just by looking at her face...or something like that. Eliza is brilliant at that too, when she's in a scene you're immediately there with her, you can't help it.

I can't help but wonder the levels she's going to have to play when, as rumoured, her character starts to remember something of who she is. So she might sometimes have a role in her thats been programmed, and have to play that, as well as demonstrate her burgeoning self awareness, and convey all that to us. It's going to be a huge role, I can't wait to see her in it.
Another clip! What a wonderful gift.
Oh my powers that be!!!!!

(hyperventilates and breathes into a bag... that is cat-less.)

How awesome is this going to be!!! The tension! The teasing! Joss stop flirting with me!!! Give it to me already!!!!!
Wow!

*jaw drops*
Meh, don't really know the context of this scene, so it's hard to judge. Eliza wasn't on point in the begining of that scene, but she stepped it up towards the end of it. The guy, on the other hand, was just plain awful. I mean really, a loud sound just happened, and he has to ask "did you hear that?" However, the trailer they released makes up for it entirely. That was BADASS.
I think he asked "did you come here alone?" or something like that.
Yes, yes he did. Which is a perfectly valid question.
This is, how you say, an embarrassment of riches.

Doesn't Tahmoh Penikett just radiate integrity and righteousness? And Eliza's just riveting... can't take your eyes off her, which is what usedta happen in BtVS, too.

She had to have a show like this, because she is the kindof talent that's gonna pull focus anyway, so might as well work with it. (Not an intentional upstager - it's because she's just so magnetic - you know, she's got it.. Or, as Dorothy Parker once said, she's got so much "it" she's got "those.")

Jeezum Crow (or Sweet Fancy Jossus) what's left? Joss' original poster emailed to every member of whedonesque? The pilot beamed directly into my iHole? I can't take much more, I'm getting older, and I'm not well. ; >

(And Turbofist911, I'm sorry, I just had to say it: if you don't like a line like "Did you hear that?" that's one thing, but that's not the guy being awful, that's not liking the line.)
I thought this day couldn't get any better and then we get a scene of Tahmoh and Eliza together! Talk about fangirl overload.....

Tahmoh Penikett does indeed "radiate integrity and righteousness". In such a good way. He could play a villain and he'd still be my hero.
I thought it looked great and pretty much exactly how I imagined the show. Tahmoh still reminds me of Helo, but then again since I haven't seen him in anything else yet, it's probably too early to say otherwise. Helo does kick butt, though.
gotta love the lightning on this scene
I needed that today! Ahhh...Joss on TV = happy happy me!
I don't think I can handle these teases for the next seven months. I might freak out!
Squee. Eliza's beautiful in that scene. My need for more is insatiable. I want a time machine to jump forward 7 months.
I am so psyched. I'm turning into a spoiler ho!
Yep, this looks more like what I was expecting, colour-wise. Also: has this been 'youtubed', yet? This linked video is too much for my old system.
Does someone want to try to explain how this scene fits in with everything else we know or have seen? Because I don't really get it.

My theory is that Paul is investigating the Dollhouse, the Dollhouse finds out and programs Echo to go give him the slip. Which she is in the process of doing in this scene.
I was already mentally prepared for the upcoming 8 months wait until DOLLHOUSE debuts, but these clips are just making this harder.
32 comments and not one about. all. that. cleavage. Wow. Honest "breast gal" leaving now...
Holy Mary mother of God!!! That was the hottest damned thing I've seen in recent memory. And they used "The Pretender" by my favorite band... I mean if they won't use it in promos for BSG, they might as well use it for a show with a BSG alum in it.

God almighty. I... I... I'll be in my bunk.

ETA: Oh... except that I was commenting on the preview over on (i09). First commercial break in Lost I'll watch the vid linked to by this thread. brb

ETAA: Yeah, that one was nice too. Nice to see those two getting all acty in a scene together. I've desperately missed me some Eliza... and never fell fro Tru Calling.

That was pretty boobilicious. I mean... this show looks really good. The boobs... erm... acting was great!

No, on a serious note, this has been the best Whedony day in such a long time. Loved the trailer, loved the clip. Could there BE a better thing to come home to after a hard day's work? Thinking not.
It didn't reach out and grab me, to be honest.

ETA: Now that I've seen the trailer - yeah, that was good.
"..nobody in the system can lower their donut long enough to follow a lead."
Oh yeah.
I have now added Dollhouse to my bittorrent searchs. Just waiting for someone to put up the preair version.
That was great. Though the donut line was a leetle much.

I'm digging the score, too, and especially the lighting.
I've been linked to a few 'previews'
this one http://seat42f.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2369&Itemid=9
and this one http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=eV6egKoZEHM

It looks like so much fun! Love the actors chosen, that I can see from the previews. Especially the English actress playing Adele? Who's name I don't remember.

Only complaint I have is what the hell is up with the cheesy cliche papyrus font?! Damn I hope that's not going to be used in the long run, bad enough it was used for Serenity.
Sorry I'm a designer.. had to bitch about that. ;)
LOL I kinda liked the papyrus font. :) The font, the score, the Foo Fighters song and the line, "The Actives are the truest souls among us," were among my favorite things about the trailer.

Oh, and Eliza too of course. And some reviews of it are still calling Tamoh's character Paul Smith (my name, my name, my name, I'm famous and in a Joss show)... so I'm confused about what his name will actually turn out to be in the series.
Sister? Wha, who huh? Not that it wasn't awesome but taken out of context and with my relatively spoiler-free self it kind of made with the huh. But that's okay. I almost didn't click on it because I would prefer to go in spoiler-free, but I am weak and the temptation was too great for any mortal. In some ways I almost hope we don't see any more for awhile because January is a long ways off and there are some addictive properties at work with something this -fill in with a new adjective that conveys the coolest thing ever-. Yeah who am I kidding.
Hm, I gotta say, I'm not crazy about that actor (in this or the trailer). Am loving everyone else so far though.
Between all this excellent Dollhouse footage (hurray, Helo) and the Office finale, it's been a damned fine day for television.
I think he asked "did you come here alone?" or something like that.

swanjun | May 16, 01:39 CET

Yes, yes he did. Which is a perfectly valid question.

Oh sure, restrict your comments to what's actually in the clip, I mean, you can prove anything with facts ;-).

Yay to more clippage though out of context it doesn't really do much except intrigue. So she's not his ex and it seems like she has indeed been sent there to set him up which means my speculations were absolutely spot on (well, so long as you ignore the content and just focus on the spaces between words ;).

And yep, they should release the entire episode in clips and then launch a 'Dollhouse Jigsaw' competition - whoever gets closest to the final cut wins a mini Mars-Bar.
Mars Bar! Give!

Eliza is so good. I can only imagine how much I'm gonna love this show.
Fonts are a difficult thing to get right, and there's very much a fashion about them, but nevertheless, I agree about Papyrus.

As for the "Did you hear that?" line, considering the loud sound was probably added at the editing stage, it was probably just a bit too loud. It's not as if an actor chooses their lines either.
Yeah, just to be extra specially clear cos my post may not have been, he doesn't say "Did you hear that ?" he says "You here alone ?". Which is a lot less clunky and more natural.

He doesn't ask "Did you hear that?" -- he asks "You here alone?"
Sorry -- I was just replying to the comment above. "You here alone?" does make much more sense. (I was trying not to re-watch it, hence the bad memory)
A lil late but still, in a commenty mood 'cos of the fun.
"Bendy".... eeee ah hello the jossness, plus who doesn't love talk of donuts...mmm. Like the look of this clip, the lighting and colours in it just makes me even more excited, the potential dark and twistyness of the show and what might/will be explored eeeeep. Also the trailer having a few lighter scenes and warmer colours as well makes me think again of how wide a spectrum the show can cover.
I've always thought Joss shows were like a *heart-hug* or something, like a big 'ol hug of great acting/writing etc that radiates through viewers from the inside out with their jossy awesomeness, anyway this is making me think *brain-hug*. Okay I do believe I've gone to that wierd place......no idea what I came here to say but Yay for all the Dollhouse news can't wait till January.
Ok you people are all so much smarter than me. The best I could come up with is that Echo has a twin who is looking for her sister. The whole doublecross theory sounds much more convincing.
Oh. My. GOSH. Can't wait for this, on the off chance that Fox screens more than five episodes I think I'll feel alive for the first time since firefly.
(I was trying not to re-watch it, hence the bad memory)

I'm doing a similar thing in that i'm aiming to keep the repeat viewings below 50 ;).
I've kept views of the clip to 2, but I think I've seen the trailer 4 times now. :)
I figure I can watch them as much as I want until July and that'll still give me six months to forget before the show comes on. :(
Okkay asked:
Does someone want to try to explain how this scene fits in with everything else we know or have seen? Because I don't really get it.

Well, from what I can tell (based on costuming), this scene appears to be connected to the "I'm not nobody" part of the trailer. I'm gonna guess that "I'm not nobody" comes after this scene.

As far as what all that means...who knows?
but I think I've seen the trailer 4 times now. :)

Gotcha beat; I loaded Zeitgeist's mp4 version (thanks, Zeitgeist!) on my iPod. Now I can, and will, watch it any time I want!
Well, Echo's the one who's missing, right? She has to have dropped out of her old life when she became an Active. So maybe as her awareness starts to come back, she realizes that someone is missing, but she projects that realization onto a sister that she thinks she had.

Cannot see this happeneing this early in the show. From what I've heard so far she "Gradually" becomes aware, so I would imaging many episodes of her just getting the odd feeling that something is wrong, bits of deja vu and so on. Cant see her getting to the "Running around looking for her sister" stage in episode 1.
Cheers, MKM :)

Kat Jetson

I'm subscribing to jobo's theory: that Echo was programmed (and dressed) to get the Fed to stop looking for the 'Dollhouse', there is nothing like a little cleavage to distract a Government investigator I'm guessing. This all looks very interesting to me, and I'm confident that I'm going to love it.

The... cleavage? ;)
*snickers*
I already love the cleavage but then I loved it when it happened to belong to Faith too. It was also put to excellent use in Tru Calling, if I remember those running scenes clearly. And I do. ;)
So, the pilot wraps all that genre goodness in a procedural plotline?
