(SPOILER) Entertainment Weekly feature on Dollhouse. There's some intriguing info from Joss and a couple of new pics as well.

oh the more I learn about Dollhouse the more curious I get. I can't wait to find out how Joss is going to amaze me this time.
That picture of ED packing heat...pretty cool (and a little scary)! Kinda miss the crossbow, though...
My understanding is that this is also a full page in the literal EW. Not sure yet if anything's different as I haven't gotten my copy yet.
You are correct re the full page EW cabri. I scanned the page, but I'm thinking it's not ok to link it here?
I can't wait to pick up a copy of this issue.
Whedon went to the john, where the Dollhouse premise suddenly struck him.

It's the weekend. I think we need to rumor-monger about the exact nature of the catalyst during his trip. Was it the bathroom itself, someone inside, or did he pass an ADD kid on the way there?

My vote is that someone (after a bad breakup) was tossing photos in the toilet, but not all of them would go down the drain. "...flushing away memories ...some of them keep coming back... Eureka!"
i do wish they'd mention ANGEL every once in a while in these articles. joss' best show gets so unloved.

and i can't wait to see this show.
NileQT87 - Please capitalize, makes it easier to read.
Fox has committed to producing seven episodes of Dollhouse

I assume that's out-of-date info, right?
Nice feature, though I wish the journalists would stop talking about it like it's guaranteed the lifespan of moth. I don't know if it had been mentioned before that the famous lunch that birthed Dollhouse was at the Ivy. Maybe the inspiration was the restaurant.
NileQT87, totally agree about Angel. It's sort of the red-headed stepchild of the Whedonverse. :(
I think so shambleau, although gossi is reporting on Dollverse that it's 13 episodes with a view to 22, so hopefully the 13 episodes will be out of date as well. Although how that affects the planning of a season I don't know.
"You're a wee little red-headed stepchild!"
I liked this bit:
The other day I shot scenes for a 1940s musical dance number and a Mexican spaghetti Western

Joss really figured out the way he & Eliza could have the most fun, didn't he?

And I want to see a scene of Doctor Amy. I just keep picturing her in her W & H lab coat.
Joss even pees genius!
I believe Joss confirmed (if a bit vaguely) the 13 episode thing on his latest comment here.

Also.. the bit about the MIA doll. Could that explain what's going on in the Echo/Paul clip we've seen?

My goodness, that would just be the best news ever. How often do midseason shows get 22 episodes, though? I'm not entirely sure how that'd work.

I hadn't considered that. Perhaps the Dollhouse sometimes sends out Actives on missions to track the MIA, and in this case the cover story is a "sister"? Interesting.

Technically, I believe, on FOX shows that start up in January are considered part of "Season Season". (24, for example, starts in January and runs for a full season.) So while the longer tradition says that January is "mid-season", FOX has something of a branding in place that fits the notion of full-season shows that don't begin until January.
Yeah, and they also start fall shows earlier than other networks, so they're more of a year-round programmer than most places.

Eliza is just glorious in those pictures. And, judging from the interview, she's happy to be working with Joss again. After her tour on "Tru Calling", think she's happy to act a complex character once again.
24, for example, starts in January and runs for a full season.

Or Dollhouse could have a 24-episode first season so that they can air our finale with the 24 finale, without reruns in between... one can dream...
OneTeV, that's some 'specially cherce rumor-mongering you got going there - nice.

And yeah, dreamlogic, we did know it was the Ivy from the L.A. Times article (which, btw, does mention Angel in Joss' credits) - but more importantly, we knew it was the Ivy at the Shore rather than The Ivy on Robertson, which only makes a difference to pedants like me. Well, and to the diners themselves, because at the Santa Monica place, you wouldn't necessarily have to run by a gauntlet of photographers and tourists to get in, and at the Ivy, you probably would. There's more privacy at the shore location... and it's by the sea, instead of by my house. ; >

What I think we need next is a photograph taken of the inside of the men's bathroom, so we can discuss just exactly how the fixtures and ambiance may have contributed to Joss' vision for the show itself... and its set design. ; >

The MIA Doll story is news to me, and certainly might explain that scene clip with Tahmoh Penikett/FBI agent Paul "He'll always be 'Smith' to me" Ballard.
Just a guess, but I suspect (and hope!) a 13-to-16 episode first season of "Dollhouse".
The MIA Doll story is news to me

Said MIA Doll ("Alpha") appears in one of the casting sides, gender unspecified as far as I can recall.

At this point, I think I've seen him referred to as Smith far more than I've seen him called Ballard.
24 in the past has had a two day premiere and a two hour finale. When I mapped it out on a calendar (because I'm crazy like that) it looked like there was room for 20 episodes of Dollhouse if ratings warrant it.
Does what the article says about storytelling style make anybody else nervous? I worry about a narrative structure with so many transitions.
b!X: "Said MIA Doll ('Alpha') appears in one of the casting sides, gender unspecified as far as I can recall."

Do you mean the two-pager with Paul & Alpha? For some reason, when I read it, I didn't assume that Doll was missing and being sought. I guess my mind went some other place with it - a renegade Doll still inside, or a presumed-to-be dead Doll or something... but yeah, sure is likely to be MIA Doll.
In a weird way, it seems like Joss is getting to explore multiple genres again (while still remaining in the same show). Much excited. :)
He was never a one-genre man. :P
Oh, for God's sake, settle down people. It'll be fine.
MP, you could say that he was a genre whore/companion.:p
Madhatter, I'm with you. I think we can trust in the storytelling instincts of the man who has delivered us three cult TV series.
Madhatter, we are going to get 7 months of people over analyzing and complaining and being nervous and hating on this show before they ever see it. Hang on. It's going to be a bumpy ride. One that will most likely scare me away from some of the boards for a while.

Probably not since 24 does 2 hour finales and premieres every year. thats how they fit 24 hours into less than 24 weeks.
QG, I didn't know that there was another Ivy, which shows how much I know. I've only been to the Robertson one because I wanted to take my dad and his wife someplace "Hollywood." But I wasn't thinking of paparazzi or decor. I was thinking about the customers.
