I loved seeing the rapport that Joss and Eliza have. It really is, for lack of a better word, cute. I noticed, though, that most of the clips of Echo (besides when she was being imprinted/wiped) were of her kicking ass. Kind of funny, since she was talking about a side of her that most viewers haven't seen, apparently. And I don't think it's ass kicking.

I would love to see her in a chick fight with Joss. Cameo, anyone?

Speaking of Spike, I was playing at FreeRice to kill time and be productive, and one of the words was "fulgent."
Words I've learned thanks to Joss: effulgent, sanguine, Shawarma, and that the opposite of "pointless" is "pointy."

Back on topic: Eliza is fulgent.

Scaniano, "schmoopy" reminds me too much of "floopy," which is what a flibbertigibbet is. It's like schmaltzy and floopy, which is just a flibbertigibbet who is all fur coat and no knickers.

...But that's just me.

I kind of wish that they would stop saying that the premise of the show is to showcase Eliza's talent. Okay, maybe what they are saying could be interpreted another way, but all I hear is, "Look at how good she can act being all these different people!!!" I don't want to see a show to see how good she can act. I want to see a show with interesting character development and engaging plots. And certainly I want to see a show featuring Echo, and not the actress playing her. Which I'm sure is what Joss and Eliza will deliver. Never a doubt in my mind. Thus why I wish they would stop mentioning the thing I mentioned.

Though I am most excited for new plots, characters, and moral grayness, I must say that I love being able to see my favorite actors show their chops. So yes, Eliza's acting will be part of the fun.

Aw, the way Joss and Eliza interact is why I love all shows Whedon. There's a sense of respect and cheekiness and camaraderie. Of having a laugh, sharing a joke, being part of something fun and exciting. Much like Whedonesque really.

I think showcasing Eliza's range is a good way to explore Echo's character. When someone can adopt any accent/language/social class/personality/personal history -- as one kind of ideal actor can -- then who is that person really? What are the choices that make her who she is? Chameleon-like characters (I'm thinking of Richard III, for example, as someone who portrays himself as godly, romantic, loyal and sentimental -- then steps back and laughs at those who are fooled by the performances he takes such pride and pleasure in) lead you to contemplate the nature of identity while being a blast to observe. Personality-as-performance (part of stagecraft-as-statecraft for kings, queens and courtiers) were big Elizabethan themes, so the Strawberry Blonde Shakespeare Fan may find them intriguing. I sure do. So you can have your performance cake and eat your five daily servings of character.

I'm with korkster on the Joss and Eliza comedy thing. I'd definitely just watch them have a normal conversation. But god, wouldn't they be great playing a married couple? I can imagine the witty banter they'd have about, say, the grocery list. Except Eliza would always win, since she's gonna kick Joss's ass.

I get more of a Faith-y vibe from Season 5: "So... how do you want me?" (with Riley).
