Doctor Horrible website is live.
With the teaser, promotional banners, links to the official Facebook, MySpace & Twitter pages and a newsletter you can subscribe to.
This site will work and look better in a browser that supports web standards, but it is accessible to any browser or Internet device.
It's awesome to see everything starting to roll... I'm getting more and more excited for this!

I like the technicolour logo in the right corner also. Nice to see a band from Finland get some props from the big purple and company.
My anticipation has increased. Exponentially with each new bit.

At last the time has come to reveal to you our Master Plan. BEWARE! Those with weak hearts should log off lest they be terrified by the twisted genius of our schemes! Also pregnant women and the elderly should consider reading only certain sentences. Do not mix with other blogs. Do not operate heavy machinery while reading this blog. You must be this tall to read. ‘Kay?
It is time for us to change the face of Show Business as we know it. You know the old adage, “It’s Show Business – not Show Friends”? Well now it’s Show Friends. We did that. To Show Business. To show Show Business we mean business. (Also, there are now other businesses like it.)
ONE WEEK ONLY! AN INTERNET MINISERIES EVENT!
"Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog" will be streamed, LIVE (that part’s not true), FREE (sadly, that part is) right on Drhorrible.com, in mid-July. Specifically:
ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.
ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.
ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.
All acts will stay up until midnight Sunday July 20th. Then they will vanish into the night, like a phantom (but not THE Phantom – that’s still playing. Like, everywhere.)
And now to answers a few Frequently (soon to be) Asked Questions:
1) Why, Joss? Why? Why now, why free, why us?
Once upon a time, all the writers in the forest got very mad with the Forest Kings and declared a work-stoppage. The forest creatures were all sad; the mushrooms did not dance, the elderberries gave no juice for the festival wines, and the Teamsters were kinda pissed. (They were very polite about it, though.) During this work-stoppage, many writers tried to form partnerships for outside funding to create new work that circumvented the Forest King system.
Frustrated with the lack of movement on that front, I finally decided to do something very ambitious, very exciting, very mid-life-crisisy. Aided only by everyone I had worked with, was related to or had ever met, I single-handedly created this unique little epic. A supervillain musical, of which, as we all know, there are far too few.
The idea was to make it on the fly, on the cheap – but to make it. To turn out a really thrilling, professionalish piece of entertainment specifically for the internet. To show how much could be done with very little. To show the world there is another way. To give the public (and in particular you guys) something for all your support and patience. And to make a lot of silly jokes. Actually, that sentence probably should have come first.
2) What happens when it goes away? Does it go to a happy farm for always like Fluffy did when mommy was crying and the neighbor kept washing his fender?
No, Dr horrible will live on. We intend to make it available for download soon after it’s published. This would be for a nominal fee, which we’re hoping people will embrace instead of getting all piratey. We have big dreams, people, and one of them is paying our crew.
And somewhat later, we will put the complete short epic out on DVD – with the finest and bravest extras in all the land. We’ll go into greater detail about that at Comiccon, but we’re changing the face of Show Friendliness a second time with that crazy DVD.
3) Joss, you are so kind, and generous, and your forehead is like, huge, like SCARY, like I think I can see Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint hanging off it… what can WE do to help this musical extravanganza?
What you always do, peeps! What you’re already doing. Spread the word. Rock some banners, widgets, diggs… let people know who wouldn’t ordinarily know. It wouldn’t hurt if this really was an event. Good for the business, good for the community – communitIES: Hollywood, internet, artists around the world, comic-book fans, musical fans (and even the rather vocal community of people who hate both but will still dig on this). Proving we can turn Dr Horrible into a viable economic proposition as well as an awesome goof will only inspire more people to lay themselves out in the same way. It’s time for the dissemination of the artistic process. Create more for less. You are the ones that can make that happen.
Wow. I had no idea how important you guys were. I’m a little afraid of you.
4) Joss, do you ever answer a question simply or coherently?
Shledzguohn?
There’ll be more questions, and more long, long answers, but for now I’m just excited that we’re actually making this happen. We (and a lot of other people -- gushing to commence soon) worked very hard on the show and we hope/think you guys will be pleased. Until July 15th , I remain, yours truly, -j, of the firm j, j, m & z.

And I believe that Joss is way too nice a guy to take advantage of the fact that I'd pay a ridiculous price for the DVD, so I can tell you that. It's a nice feeling really, if a bunch of people said that about a normal show, the forest kings would pounce.
Do forest kings pounce? I've never really thought about it.
Can not wait! This is going to be the internet event of the season. Except without the red-carpet that everyone seems to hate.

After I was done with my first Angel watch, my friend and I were only going to watch one Firefly a day, but maybe on the weekend, I'll be able to convince them to watch two a day. That way we'll be able watch Serenity on the 15th. Fun times await us.
Oh, hm. Does midnight on the 20th mean Pacific time? If so, the 20th @ 3am Eastern or the 21st @ 3am Eastern?

Such a smart way to do this, Jossir (Jeez, dude, you were up late) - this is the kind of "monetizing" that makes me happy and which I am totally willing to spring for. I saw this coming during the strike - well, not "this" exactly, but something very much like this - and I really applaud your delivery system. It answers so many needs.
I'm all jazzed and sorta verklempt. And Viva the Forest Creature Revolution! Power to the Wood Nymphs and the Teamsters!
I like what mid-life crisis drove Joss to create - me, I just got a couple of tattoos and called it a day. I'm pretty sure his way will bring more pleasure to a greater number of people.
Amazingly, shledzguohn.com, .org and family remain available. And while the "Motion Picture Association of My House" is all Joss, the website was actually b!X being faster than the speed of light on the Night of the Trailer.
(Yeah, and I totally gave up on the hammer graphic search, too, and haven't been able to get a good enough look at the Doc's goggle logo to even approximate - I like the logo(s) idea as much as the Nate-face used in the show - the Blue Sun shirts were always my favorite Serenifly hook. I think there should be both logos on t-shirts - well, really all the logos, 'cause I think there's others, too - and we can form virtual teams wearing the shirts - and have water balloon fights at ComicCon... well, or maybe something less splashy, but equally chaotic.
And thanks for the tip on your birthday, mifeng-gal - sans Goners, I am all at sea about who's aging when...)

This bodes very well for Dr. Horrible.
Tonya J | June 30, 01:07 CET
(And I also liked what Patti LuPone was doing, which made me feel better about her - I know she got rave reviews for her Mrs. Lovett on Broadway, and I liked her from her Evita days (more than the musical itself) but I had such a hard time with her performance as the Old Woman in this concert version of Candide with the New York Philharmonic that it almost ruined it for me... and I love Candide. She was doing a beautiful job here, though, with the part - no scenery-chewing that I could see.
Talk about an involving concert performance - I saw it in 2005 on PBS, and just bought it and watched it again on DVD. I highly recommend it, even with the caveat above - it's just magical and Kristin Chenoweth was obviously born to play Cunegonde. When everyone sang "Make Our Garden Grow" I cried like a little baby.)
QuoterGal | June 30, 02:17 CET
I have a VHS (that's how old it is :) of the dream cast performing Les Miserables concert style. Not only did the entire story work perfectly, but I cried during several numbers, including "I Dreamed a Dream" and "A Little Fall of Rain." That made me a believer in concert performances of musicals.
BandofBuggered | June 30, 02:48 CET
QuoterGal, I totally agree; Kristen Chenoweth owns that role. She also performed it with the Boston Pops and again was delightful. (I also cry whenever I hear "Make Our Garden Grow" performed!)
