Doctor Horrible website is live. With the teaser, promotional banners, links to the official Facebook, MySpace & Twitter pages and a newsletter you can subscribe to.

It's awesome to see everything starting to roll... I'm getting more and more excited for this!
It does my heart good to see Mutant Enemy productions.
Is that an actual rating at the bottom, or another cleverly disguised joke?

I like the technicolour logo in the right corner also. Nice to see a band from Finland get some props from the big purple and company.

My anticipation has increased. Exponentially with each new bit.
This looks like such ridiculous fun! Personally, I can't wait to see a fresh "Grrr Argh" (there will be one right?). I miss seeing that little guy.
Dear Friends,

At last the time has come to reveal to you our Master Plan. BEWARE! Those with weak hearts should log off lest they be terrified by the twisted genius of our schemes! Also pregnant women and the elderly should consider reading only certain sentences. Do not mix with other blogs. Do not operate heavy machinery while reading this blog. You must be this tall to read. ‘Kay?

It is time for us to change the face of Show Business as we know it. You know the old adage, “It’s Show Business – not Show Friends”? Well now it’s Show Friends. We did that. To Show Business. To show Show Business we mean business. (Also, there are now other businesses like it.)

"Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog" will be streamed, LIVE (that part’s not true), FREE (sadly, that part is) right on, in mid-July. Specifically:

ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.

ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.

ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.

All acts will stay up until midnight Sunday July 20th. Then they will vanish into the night, like a phantom (but not THE Phantom – that’s still playing. Like, everywhere.)

And now to answers a few Frequently (soon to be) Asked Questions:

1) Why, Joss? Why? Why now, why free, why us?

Once upon a time, all the writers in the forest got very mad with the Forest Kings and declared a work-stoppage. The forest creatures were all sad; the mushrooms did not dance, the elderberries gave no juice for the festival wines, and the Teamsters were kinda pissed. (They were very polite about it, though.) During this work-stoppage, many writers tried to form partnerships for outside funding to create new work that circumvented the Forest King system.

Frustrated with the lack of movement on that front, I finally decided to do something very ambitious, very exciting, very mid-life-crisisy. Aided only by everyone I had worked with, was related to or had ever met, I single-handedly created this unique little epic. A supervillain musical, of which, as we all know, there are far too few.

The idea was to make it on the fly, on the cheap – but to make it. To turn out a really thrilling, professionalish piece of entertainment specifically for the internet. To show how much could be done with very little. To show the world there is another way. To give the public (and in particular you guys) something for all your support and patience. And to make a lot of silly jokes. Actually, that sentence probably should have come first.

2) What happens when it goes away? Does it go to a happy farm for always like Fluffy did when mommy was crying and the neighbor kept washing his fender?

No, Dr horrible will live on. We intend to make it available for download soon after it’s published. This would be for a nominal fee, which we’re hoping people will embrace instead of getting all piratey. We have big dreams, people, and one of them is paying our crew.

And somewhat later, we will put the complete short epic out on DVD – with the finest and bravest extras in all the land. We’ll go into greater detail about that at Comiccon, but we’re changing the face of Show Friendliness a second time with that crazy DVD.

3) Joss, you are so kind, and generous, and your forehead is like, huge, like SCARY, like I think I can see Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint hanging off it… what can WE do to help this musical extravanganza?

What you always do, peeps! What you’re already doing. Spread the word. Rock some banners, widgets, diggs… let people know who wouldn’t ordinarily know. It wouldn’t hurt if this really was an event. Good for the business, good for the community – communitIES: Hollywood, internet, artists around the world, comic-book fans, musical fans (and even the rather vocal community of people who hate both but will still dig on this). Proving we can turn Dr Horrible into a viable economic proposition as well as an awesome goof will only inspire more people to lay themselves out in the same way. It’s time for the dissemination of the artistic process. Create more for less. You are the ones that can make that happen.

Wow. I had no idea how important you guys were. I’m a little afraid of you.

4) Joss, do you ever answer a question simply or coherently?

There’ll be more questions, and more long, long answers, but for now I’m just excited that we’re actually making this happen. We (and a lot of other people -- gushing to commence soon) worked very hard on the show and we hope/think you guys will be pleased. Until July 15th , I remain, yours truly, -j, of the firm j, j, m & z.

Wow, thanks Joss. Great to hear all the details.
I think I just passed out for a second. Did I imagine it or did something incredibly awesome sounding just happen?
Ohhh...a Master Plan! *rubs hands together all evil-like*

Off to spread the word
Awesome:) Cant wait to see it! I'm a comic book fan,a musicals fan (well I am an opera singer by profession-need singers for your next musical Joss?:)) and a Whedon this should be heaven!
Why, Joss? Why? Why during my one week of holiday?

OK, I'll just have to buy the downloads and be a good world changing, artistic-process-dissemination-something fan. And maybe hope timezone differences work in my advantage for once.
Wow, that's much better than my "hijack the emergency broadcasting signal and stream 'Doctor Horrible' nonstop, panicking millions" scheme.

Although I'm keeping that one in reserve.
I'm so excited I think I did a lickle pee!

I will spread, spread like wildfire, the glorious news...
Well I posted about Joss' post on the front page to help spread the world (not everyone reads the comments section). Figure I'll send a bulletin through Whedonesque's MySpace account as well.
Sounds great, Joss. I will spread the word. Appreciate you not putting Part III up against "The Dark Knight", also, because that's the sort of movie you see the day it comes out :)
Ha! I was totally operating heavy machinery while reading this blog! Take that! I am such a rebel!

Hopefully the DVD will be sold direct, cutting out retailers in the same way they are cutting out the studios. Put my name down for a copy now Joss. Mr Visa card is 5404 27.., wait, that might not be the bestest idea....

And Joss? It's five AM in LA! Get some sleep!

[ edited by zz9 on 2008-06-28 14:37 ]
Anyone want to start the ball rolling with submitting this story to some community-news sites like Digg or Reddit? I don't use them myself, so I don't really know how to get things front-paged, but they have the sort of crowd that might be interested in this.
So the Forest King saga, that's gonna be a graphic novel, right? Why do I picture the writerly uprising as a campaign waged by anthropomorphic teddy bears? Singing and dancing? Because this is an epic, saga-cious moment in the history of video production when the privileges and responsibilities of "producers" are being taken up by those who actually do the video produce-ing. It is something to sing about for Jed, Zach and the Artist Formerly Known As Joe Hill (who were clearly named by someone who wanted to raise a folk trio) and Maurissa (the Mary to their Peter, Paul and Other Peter) and all the creatures of the forest!

I'm gonna have to learn how to cut and paste a banner.
Can't say how excited I am that this is all finally unfolding!

Oh - super important question. Will be downloadable by people outside the USA? Please?

[ edited by Beth'll on 2008-06-28 15:13 ]
Woo, my July just got less boring! I've been linking everyone I know to this super shiny trailer and there’s been nothing but excitement in response :D

Joss, if you're still hanging around, there is one question you can add to your list so that you may cryptically and incoherently answer it later- Will this be captioned?
**checks diary*** Phew not working on Sunday 20th July so won't miss last episode (cos that schedule was tight).
Thanks for unveiling your Master Plan Joss! OMG! indeed. I'm off to see if I'm tall enough to read. Or measure my height to put on my passport application for my first trip overseas. This has been an exciting week.
Just Dugg it. Go Digg it yourself and move that sucker up the charts!
Oh.My.God. Joss you are too good to us! I am not worthy of the free, I WANT to buy and spend and pay too much for the DVD!
You know we are going to crash your website in mid-July, it is what we do....
(I sure hope I get on before it crashes!).

Thank you so much.
Oh darn. I just printed my CSTS programs up. That date would've been perfect to add in.
What great news! Can't wait to see it, download it, order the dvd and learn all the words...provided I don't have to sing the word, "Shledzguohn."

Thanks for the post Joss!
Can't wait. I like the way you guys have decided to pay the crew. I hear people (especially spouses and offspring) love food, and this seems like a damn good way to deliver said food.

And I believe that Joss is way too nice a guy to take advantage of the fact that I'd pay a ridiculous price for the DVD, so I can tell you that. It's a nice feeling really, if a bunch of people said that about a normal show, the forest kings would pounce.

Do forest kings pounce? I've never really thought about it.

Can not wait! This is going to be the internet event of the season. Except without the red-carpet that everyone seems to hate.
Numfar, do the dance of revolution! (But not "Dance, Dance Revolution" or "The Evolution of Dance." No one wants to see Joss Numfar do that ;-)
So exciting! And right after my birthday! It's a very special present to me... and anyone else with birthdays that week. So, lots of people, then. YAY!

[ edited by Kiba on 2008-06-28 15:38 ]
Hopefully the online purchase part will be accessible for people everywhere, not only US. As so many of us are foreigners, and iTunes store, does have limitations for places, it doesn't really exist.
And the countdown begins.

Luckily I get to use a computer while I'm at work... I will have the entire thing effectively memorized by that Sunday. And then I will buy three copies of the DVD - one to always have on my shelf, one for my DVD player, and one to keep in my backpack.

I can't wait.

First the Buffy/Fray Crossover and now the Dr. Horrible premiere.

And I was checking out the behind the scenes pics of Dr. Horrible the other night.

Captain, my Captain. Your wish is my command, your command is my wish. I will spread the word throughout the internet lands, which we shall call...this internet land. Let the streaming begin. Let it stream 'til it waterfalls and collects into a sea of singing awesomeness. You have given me so much. For this I thank-you and will willingly give back in return. Let July 15th cometh. Death to the Forest King. May the mushrooms dance and the elderberries wine. Let the revolution begin.
*Very* excited to see how Dr. Horrible has turned out. The trailer is fantastic.
Great to hear from the boss with more details about DHS-AB. I'm even more excited about this now that we have firm dates etc. I just hope the DVD release gets an R4 version, not just an R1.
Yay! Finally we can enjoy more addictive Whedony tunes. I like that the suspense will be minimal between parts with the whole thing out within a week. And DVD extras!? That will be one more I can spend my money on! Happy to help the master plan anyway my wallet can.
Besides "Digg" --which I just joined and digged ( or is it dugg?) -- where else can we internet newbies go online to digg, vote, point and click, and basically help out?
I will watch online, buy the download, and buy the DVD (three of them, most likely), giggling with geekish delight throughout. I canNOT wait!
Hooray!!!! I can't wait!
Act Three for my birthday!! Best present ever!!!
My heart stopped when I got to the bit about how it was going to VANISH INTO THE NIGHT after the live streaming, because I'll be away and how do you choose between Machu Picchu and Dr. Horrible's sing-a-long-blog, but I kept reading with no heartbeat because that's one of my superpowers, and when I got to the bit where I can buy it in various ways my heart stopped stopping. Bit naive of me, really. The trailer has me giddy. Love it.

And to answer Nalliac's question...
Do forest kings pounce? I've never really thought about it.

Have you seen their hind legs? Those thighs strike fear into the hearts of all the forest folk.
Doctor Whatnow ? Is something new happening ? What, we couldn't have had any warning ? I'dve bought a new hat and/or freed up the entire month of July on my sandwich board (i'll squeeze it in, might have to bump "Swerve if you love oncoming traffic" into August is all).

Just had my very first actual drink over keyboard moment (tea, white with none for you detail fiends) it was
"Aided only by everyone I had worked with, was related to or had ever met, I single-handedly created this unique little epic."

that did it ;).

And yep, please, please, please try to ensure that we Johnny Foreigner types can pay for this Joss, I want the mushrooms to dance the dance of hopefully-at-least-subsistence-living. new shoes are the only way to avoid foot fungus, a growing problem among the mushroom population.
Happy happy joy joy joy!!!!! Great thanks to the PTB (i.e Joss) and his buddies, family, and mere acquaintances.... Go ye forth to the multitudes and spread thine word of the gospel of Joss... Wheee!
2) What happens when it goes away? Does it go to a happy farm for always like Fluffy did when mommy was crying and the neighbor kept washing his fender?

O.M.G. - That is going to make me laugh for at least a year. Maybe more. Thank you Joss, for all the info., head scratching, and well ... huh?
What about a soundtrack? Will there be a soundtrack?

And action figures?
Wow: V. funny Whedon-post inspires many v. funny -esqueteer posts.

Soon you'll have us all singing, Demon Writer of TV the Interwebs.
Joss, if you want to make some cash off this baby, how about selling those shirts that Marissa and the other nice lady are wearing in the Facebook photos? The ones with Mr. Fillion's beautiful visage? Or his trademark "hammer" shirt. I bet you could make some cash on the side off those babies.
Yes, yes, yes!! I'd buy a t-shirt, Joss, and I'm on frickin' unemployment right now! Brilliant suggestion. A-hem.
Yes since I've given up trying to find the right hammer graphic (yes of course I was going to try to do this), you all should just sell some shirts yourselves.
Hee, that 'Denouement' joke made me cackle in an unseemly manner. :)
Oh, how I want to experience a OMWF/DHS-AB creature theatre double feature!

{{raises hand}} Would rock a t-shirt like, way, totally and completely.
I wonder how many Dr. Horrible/Capt. Hammer costumes will be at Comicon.
I'm not seeing the teaser on the site. Is it just me, or did you guys break it already? :)
Huh. For me, jcs, it's right there in the middle of the page where it's been the whole time.
July is going to be orgasmic. Dr. Horrible, The Dark Knight, my first trip to Comic-Con...good God.

Thanks, Joss!

It should go without saying that I would buy a T-Shirt even before the thing went live so that of course I could wear it while watching...
I just Stumbled the site...hopefully this can snare some poor, unsuspecting, bored civilians into watching!
Snap! Act Three available on my 21st birthday. (Happy early birthday to fellow July 19ther, mifeng!)

...CRAP. I shouldn't have gotten behind in my Buffy, Angel, and Firefly watching. At this rate, I'll be done with Angel ... Oh phew because I'm going home on the 3rd, I should be able to finish on the 4th as originally planned since I knock the pace up to four episodes when I'm home.

After I was done with my first Angel watch, my friend and I were only going to watch one Firefly a day, but maybe on the weekend, I'll be able to convince them to watch two a day. That way we'll be able watch Serenity on the 15th. Fun times await us.

Oh, hm. Does midnight on the 20th mean Pacific time? If so, the 20th @ 3am Eastern or the 21st @ 3am Eastern?

Merchandise is a good idea. I'm sure there are people on this site who know the fastest and cheapest ways to make it happen.
OK, switching computers fixed my problem.
So, where are the T-shirts?
I'm dizzy with glee and giddy with joy. I think it's because of the mushrooms.

All's I know is, I'm glad that I had no drink nearby, as my poor computer would suffer, which would lead to a revolution in which it would not play Dr. Horrible.

I so want a Captain Hammer's groupie shirt.
I love how he created his very own motion picture association just to approve the trailer.
Totally am going to buy the DVD.
Better make some Dr. Horrible T-shirts as well. Someone has to root for the villain.
I finally decided to do something very ambitious, very exciting, very mid-life-crisisy.

Dude, it beats the hell out of a red sports car or a trophy wife. And yes, I will totally pay for the DVD, as well as the download.
I'm hoping to buy at least a dozen DVDs, then give them to everyone I know for Christmas! I am confidently expecting this to be some serious awe.
Yes sir, Cap'n Recently Had a Birthday, sir!
Awesome, the master, the captain and - wait for it - Neil Patrick Harris working together… Can't wait!
What great news! Can't wait. Will purchase many DVDs.
I'm all a'Twitter - or I would be if I knew how to to drive that thing. I read Joss' post drinking my morning coffee (so much for reading this morning's fun-packed newspaper) and there was danger to both keyboard and peripherals... I think this is finally going to drive me to start that blog I've been threatening (there is only a genuinely crappy web-page currently up at my site) and Doc Horrible shall be my inaugural blog - or Blerg, as I shall call it. I go now to make it so.

Such a smart way to do this, Jossir (Jeez, dude, you were up late) - this is the kind of "monetizing" that makes me happy and which I am totally willing to spring for. I saw this coming during the strike - well, not "this" exactly, but something very much like this - and I really applaud your delivery system. It answers so many needs.

I'm all jazzed and sorta verklempt. And Viva the Forest Creature Revolution! Power to the Wood Nymphs and the Teamsters!

I like what mid-life crisis drove Joss to create - me, I just got a couple of tattoos and called it a day. I'm pretty sure his way will bring more pleasure to a greater number of people.

Amazingly,, .org and family remain available. And while the "Motion Picture Association of My House" is all Joss, the website was actually b!X being faster than the speed of light on the Night of the Trailer.

(Yeah, and I totally gave up on the hammer graphic search, too, and haven't been able to get a good enough look at the Doc's goggle logo to even approximate - I like the logo(s) idea as much as the Nate-face used in the show - the Blue Sun shirts were always my favorite Serenifly hook. I think there should be both logos on t-shirts - well, really all the logos, 'cause I think there's others, too - and we can form virtual teams wearing the shirts - and have water balloon fights at ComicCon... well, or maybe something less splashy, but equally chaotic.

And thanks for the tip on your birthday, mifeng-gal - sans Goners, I am all at sea about who's aging when...)
The finale will be streamed on my birthday!! Yay! but I can't watch it because I'll be at another musical thingie in London, something 'Figaro' by that Mozart guy. Anyway hope I can get home in time to watch the final part. Then I can download it and finally order lots of DVD's - plus I want T shirts and action figures.

Off to promote the event.
And while the "Motion Picture Association of My House" is all Joss, the website was actually...

Oh, sure, don't let them fester in a pool of their own inability to use WHOIS. ;)

I knew I should have just sprung for the extra cash to do a private registration.
I won't go all piratey on the downloading, instead if I find someone going all piratey and unleash my full scorn, which is quite scornful. Unless it's Elizabeth Swann, then I will only unleash partial scorn. :)

I am already spreading the word. :)
Doctor Horrible made the front page of IMDB
"ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th."

Neat it starts right after my birthday! It's like getting a present from your best friend who has no clue who you are....

Ok that was a bit weird.
Uh, I hope the Real Deal is in a watchable and listnabl format (sorry, my E ky's not working consistntly). I watchd th teasr and it was jrky and th soundtrack was unintlligilbe. And that's with supr-dupr Net connctivity and a PowrBook G4 (Marvin, I call him). Still unmployd here. (Though I know I can con my frind into buying th DVD and ltting m borrow it -- but sh dosn't evn HAV a computr to watch it).

Please make sure it's a format ALL can use!
tehabwa did you try going to the vimeo site and downloading the MPEG version?
mifeng, SquaringKarma, and The Do That Girl: July 19th is my birthday, too! Words cannot describe how excited I am about this; I may have to resort to interpretive dance to fully express my glee. *flails about madly*

I think this might just be the best birthday gift ever.
Neat it starts right after my birthday!

And right on mine. It is a sign! This show will be a CANCER! And not in a manner medically unfortunate!
How cool that the announcement is on Felicia's birthday. I wonder if it was deliberate? :)
July 19th is... exactly five months before my birthday.

I may throw a party anyway.

EDIT: Aw, frak, I think I'm going to be away from home much of that week...

[ edited by ManEnoughToAdmitIt on 2008-06-28 22:43 ]
I have a friend coming to visit me on July 15th. I was going to show him around the city... I guess that idea goes down the drain :)
Just adding another "yay!!" to the mix. I'll have to spring for the DVD because I won't be able to watch it anywhere other than work, and they don't pay me to be entertained. (Cheap bastards.)

Will be telling everyone I know, except almost everyone I know also reads this site and probably knew before me.

Me want t-shirt. And an action figure! Are there any Joss action figures? Is being all genius-y an action? Ooo! Slaying a pouncy large thighed Forest King!
It's kind of weird, when I try to go to the twitter through the site, I get Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain. But if I go to it through other means, it works fine. Anyone else having this problem?
bix, OK, did that, and I could HEAR it, but th visuals wr mostly gone. Like I said, hope th Real Deal gts well-testd on a variety of systems so most of us aren't left out.

I mean, six months fore-play and then no, uh, YOU know, would both suck AND blow.
hacksaway, the problem is that if you go via the https:// link they give, there's a discrepancy between the domain of the secure site "certificate" ( and the URL you come in through ( and some browsers/settings barf on it. Going in with http:// instead of https:// -- whether to or just -- works fine.
Another obsession to drive my friends crazy with! Everyone I know will avoid me the week before the premire because I've driven them away with my enthusiam.

Needless to say, I'll be promoting this in every possible way.

Good to hear from you, Joss! Wonderful news on the merch, I'd love a shirt with Nathan Fillion on it!
OK, I'm putting a big star on the Calendar for the 15th, WhedonWorldDomination, phase one. :D Count me in on all forms of support.
Fantastic! I can't wait.
i can't wait to watch and buy the online versions..(if they are I hope its not too expensive..:(
ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.

ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.

ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.

That's the week I chose to have off work! That means I'm... a good guesser! Yay! *spreads the word more and more*
How awesome, it sounds like a lot of fun...
I can't wait!
Joss has found a cure for my migraines! What will he think of next?
...and she would be watching.
No, Dr horrible will live on. We intend to make it available for download soon after it’s published. This would be for a nominal fee, which we’re hoping people will embrace instead of getting all piratey. We have big dreams, people, and one of them is paying our crew.

So glad you mentioned that part, Joss. Ve haff vays off stealink tinks off ze intervebs, but now I won't. 'Cause you're awesome. And the people who worked on this are awesome. And you deserve to be paid for the work you do.

Really, I haven't had a good squee for a while. But I did tonight.

Will do my part, and post about this everywhere I, well, post.

[ edited by Judy on 2008-07-03 15:12 ]
I got beyond excited and started punching my brother in the arm when they showed the trailer before the Phoenix screening of CSTS. Does that count as promoting it? Or do I have to give it, like, colonel's stars and salute?
This sounds truly awesome and so very Joss-like. I hope that its available outside of the US for us poor foreigners. I will very happily buy the DVD-region2 please-and even pay for the downloads. Roll on July :)
*Happy, happy dance* :)

Do forest kings pounce? I've never really thought about it.

Have you seen their hind legs? Those thighs strike fear into the hearts of all the forest folk.
catherine | June 28, 16:05 CET

Except the Centaurs, who admire them greatly and think them quite sexy. ;-)

Thank you Joss, for being made of awesomeness and big- brained splendor.

Want t-shirt. Now!! (well, soonish at least).
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog Teaser Trailer has over 104,000 plays
169 Like Hearts
Approximately 3500 of those plays are mine though. Not that I'm looking forward to this. I mean, I guess it will probably be ok.
Watched the trailer. Wow, this looks hilarious. Can't wait.
I was curious about Neil's voice so I did some looking around YouTube today. I don't know a whole lot about his theatrical career and the few times I've seen video over the years, I wasn't very impressed. Could be the quality wasn't good or the material was not what I'd enjoy. However. I found his performance in the Concert version of Sweeney Todd and wanted to share it, even though it's circa 2000. Blew me away (and I understand from doing some reading his stint in Cabaret was equally jaw-dropping). Enjoy:

Neil as Toby in ST
Tonya J, that was an awesome clip! Wow! I knew that NPH had a pretty decent voice, but it sounded heavenly in that. Thank you so much for finding and posting it.
Thanks for sharing that, Tonya J - I hadn't heard Neil's singing voice before. What a gorgeous tone he has. Very cool.
TonyaJ, thanks for that! Wow, I'm in love with NPH even more now after hearing him sing. He has such a sweet, clear voice.

Wow, and I didn't think I could be more excited than I already am over Dr. Horrible! The hell with the All Star game; I'm planning to watch me some musical goodness about 100 times on the 15th.
De nada, all. I enjoy sharing, being an out-of-practice singer/actor myself in an avocational way. I get off on hearing/watching folks do their thing. And I hate Neil for getting to perform with Patti LuPone before me. :>) (you can watch the whole concert at the link by the way; it's utterly fantastic. Who knew a concert performance could be so involving?)

This bodes very well for Dr. Horrible.
Oh, that was just lovely, Tonya - I loved his voice. This does indeed bode very well for the Doc - if better boding was required. I'm gonna watch the rest of it now.

(And I also liked what Patti LuPone was doing, which made me feel better about her - I know she got rave reviews for her Mrs. Lovett on Broadway, and I liked her from her Evita days (more than the musical itself) but I had such a hard time with her performance as the Old Woman in this concert version of Candide with the New York Philharmonic that it almost ruined it for me... and I love Candide. She was doing a beautiful job here, though, with the part - no scenery-chewing that I could see.

Talk about an involving concert performance - I saw it in 2005 on PBS, and just bought it and watched it again on DVD. I highly recommend it, even with the caveat above - it's just magical and Kristin Chenoweth was obviously born to play Cunegonde. When everyone sang "Make Our Garden Grow" I cried like a little baby.)
Who knew a concert performance could be so involving?

I have a VHS (that's how old it is :) of the dream cast performing Les Miserables concert style. Not only did the entire story work perfectly, but I cried during several numbers, including "I Dreamed a Dream" and "A Little Fall of Rain." That made me a believer in concert performances of musicals.
Thanks also, TonyaJ... When I lived in SoCal I got to see NPH perform in "Rent" and he was great! At the time I had no idea he was a singer as well as an actor, but after that performance there was no doubt!

QuoterGal, I totally agree; Kristen Chenoweth owns that role. She also performed it with the Boston Pops and again was delightful. (I also cry whenever I hear "Make Our Garden Grow" performed!)
Awesome!!! Can't wait!!
Except that I don't think I'll be around.I'm going with UTPCH to build houses for about a week. but I'll watch when I get back, and I won't go piratey just cause Joss asked,I'll find a way to get some money to buy it! and the dvd! and tees if there are!

I am very,very excited.
About to pass out from excitement.
I can't get over NPH's voice, now I'm even more excited for Dr. Horrible. I also love the alternative market, working outside the system -ness to it all. I'm so there on all counts.

Pssst, Joss, t-shirts. I again say I would proudly and boldly wear a shirt with funny Captain Hammer face on the front (as seen in the trailer). And from reading the above I'm sure many could find some loose change in their pockets for something like that. :) Can't wait to see it in all its glory.
I'd love some wallpapers. :)
I know this topic is sliding off the front page even as I type, but I've been home in dial-up land all weekend so I'm just catching up. And it had to be this thread, because. Because why? my birthday is July 19, too. I don't think I've met 4 people in my entire life who share my birthday. And I'm vaguely oldish, let's just say after this birthday I'll theoretically be playing at long last with a full deck. So running into 4 in responses to the same thread on an internet blog/forum/whatever-we-are-thingy equals freaky. Also I'm very excited about Dr. Horrible. And the singing. And the t-shirts.
I've always wanted to be able to say thing in the proper context and setting (and of course with the humor, always the humor).

"Hey! I can see my house from here!..."
Your house looks like a place where a person could plan some great evil, Jonathan.
When the choice comes to use my powers for Good or for Evil, I always choose For Awesome.

It's a fantastic place to throw a party. Especially costume parties.

Oh god the costume parties. I'd link them here but I don't know that I want to blow up my server... :)
Hey hacksaway - don't know if you're still checking these comments, but I just made a July Calendar wallpaper for Dr Horrible (with the important release dates starred). Link below

Mwahaha ... so that's coming along
When the choice comes to use my powers for Good or for Evil, I always choose For Awesome.

And really, that's always the right choice.
Up until now I was mostly just confused about what this was. Doctor? Horrible? Singalong? Blog? What?

I'm totally on board now, though.
