Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - the comic book. Brothers Whedon will be writing the tale of Captain Hammer for the next issue of MySpace Dark Horse Presents.

Awesome. This should be a goodie.
Plus they can include it as an extra on the DVD.
Ooh, fantastic. More goodness to whet my appetite... Is it mid-July yet? :D
I regret to say I haven't the chance to check out this, "Dr. Horrible" series. Is it that good?
We don't know, it's not here yet. Expectations are low though. Third rate actors, third rate writing and it's on the web. How good can it be?

*kidding of course*

I don't know much about about 'Dr Horrible' but please tell me that guy, out of HIMYM is going to kiss Nathan Fillion???
LOVED that!

Awesome,awesome news!

It just gets better and better.
Was anyone else momentarily thrown by the reference to "celebrated low-brow artist Tara McPherson?"
Simon,

Great idea. Like they included Serenity: Those Left Behind part 1 with the Serenity Collector's Edition.

They could include
This eight page feature introduces the world to Captain Hammer, Dr. Horrible.

Whoo-hoo!

What issue of Myspace Dark Horse Presents will this show up in? Gotta make sure my comic book store saves me a copy.

I am soooo excited! The first installment comes out on my birthday!!! Thank you Joss for the most perfect birthday present...however, like Buffy, I always have crapy birthdays...its time for a change...
The Twitter feed says that Tshirts are being worked on as well.
"Give me a week" it says.
Oh wow, this is so much fun! And I thought that this was going to be a long boring summer! But (forgive my stupidity) will they be printing this or putting it up at MySpace, or both? I should go reread that page again....

MySpace Dark Horse Presents is an online publication, not a print publication. It is, as the article notes, where Sugarshock appeared last year.

There IS a trade paperback of the first six issues coming out later this year, but it's primarily an online comic thing.

To answer the question: It's in the issue coming out July 2.
Wow, sweet! Can't wait for this to come out.
Shiny. Can't wait.
July looks to be awesome. Maybe evil.
Thanks for clarifying that b!x! I really enjoyed their presentation of 'Sugarshock' and now I get to look forward to some Dr. Horrible fun! I have marked my calendar (I live my life around when Joss Whedon stuff is available).

I wonder, are there really fans out there who anxiously await every new Joss project hoping against hope that men will kiss each other?
B!x,

Oh. That is why I couldn't find the comic on http://tfaw.com

So...we could still get an eight page printed little comic book with the DVD. Pleasssse! Will pay extra!!! Goes off to email scott at DarkHorse.

Must add MDHP graphic novel to my list at the comic book store cause it will have Sugar Shock in it and if it sells well there will be a 2nd issue with Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer in it.
Printed version with the DVD, I'd imagine, depends on whether or not the original deal is still in place (or an exception has been made), wherein MySpace Dark Horse Presents material could not appear in print form until a year after appearing online.

Well you could animate it. I think thats what happened for the 28 Weeks Later DVD. The comic book prequels were turned into animated extras.
B!x,

Was there anything in the deal of it not being included in as a DVD extra? Like Simon said...animated!!!
I have no idea. The only conversation I ever had about it was in terms of printed. No clue if the deal actually specified/specifies "no other medium".
Dr. Horrible cartoon? Yes, please.
The comic book prequels were turned into animated extras.

Or, if they don't have the cash to animate it (remembering this isn't some huge studio with limitless pockets), something like 'Shaun of the Dead's 'Plot Holes' snippets where Simon Pegg et al describe (in character) the action depicted in still drawings.
And now, a comic?!?!. It's amazing how the outlook seemed so bleak at the beginning of this year...now I'm crazy go-nuts over all of the Whedony goodness.

All's I can say is: wheeeee! Online, printed, animated--whatever. My cup runneth over. My question is: when does Mr. Jossir find time to sleep?
I wonder, are there really fans out there who anxiously await every new Joss project hoping against hope that men will kiss each other?

Note to self: b!x not a slash fan.
Latest twitter teases. "Captain Hammer comic coming soon on the online. Maybe you can ask Nathan to read it aloud to you."
To think, I used to hate summer.
Lioness,

And somebody did.
Well, remember: Last year at Comic-Con there was a freebie Futurama comic. The panel of assembled voice actors did a no-rehearsal live reading of it.

So, if the Dr. Horrible panel feels so inclined, there's precedent.

Wait, we're still talking comics, right?

Hi Lioness:)
There's a difference? I thought comics are comics. Then again, I'm acting pretty comical.

Hey Madhatter. How ya doing?
It is harder to turn the pages of online comics, I find.
Ok, here's the deal on MDHP material going to print (since I double-checked): The exclusivity arrangement with MySpace is six months. The reason it's been a year between Issue 01 and the first print edition which comes out soon is because it contains six issues, and so it had to wait until six months after Issue 06.

Anyway, what this means for this thread is that, since the Captain Hammer piece is in Issue 12 of MDHP, it would be in the second volume of the trade paperback edition, which would be in six months.

But, at any rate, the exclusivity arrangement for material on MDHP is six months.

Does anyone know offhand what color Nathan's hammer shirt is?

Never mind ... I forgot that you could see it in the trailer. :)

Hey, the first installment comes out on my birthday as well! Using a tremendous leap of logic, I reckon that may mean we were both born on the same day of the year (though not necessarily in the same year, unless you happened to be born in 1980).
Dark Horse is very smart.
