"It's a classic talk-then-break-into-song musical". More Dr. Horrible snippets from Joss.

dr.horrible.com? How nice of SFX to give the completely wrong URL.
You know, usually I don't like talk-then-break-into-song musicals. They tend to drag me out of the story. Then again, usually I don't like musicals at all. Unless it's something like Glen Hansard of The Frames did with Once, which is a movie where the characters are mucisians who just tend to make music in the movie.

But, having said that, I loved OMWF to bits, own the soundtrack and know all the songs by heart. Plus the Dr. Horrible trailer was great and it's Joss. So I guess I'll be okay :).

Well in fairness it's out by one (extra) character so not exactly "completely wrong" but hopefully they'll correct it as per the comment.

And
(Legally. Hum-stoppage will result in up to six months in WoW as some lame healer)

You'd think Joss had been hanging around/working with a rather fetching redheaded MMORPG "enthusiast" or something ;).
Hey, I like healing in WoW :)

I had the same attitude too, it turns out I'd just been watching the wrong musicals. Stephen Sondheim FTW. "Once" sounds interesting too, I might check it out sometime.
Once is absolutely fantastic. Also, I'm definitely looking forward to Dr Horrible. And the soundtrack.
I'm not into musicals either.but I loved OMWF.I keep the songs in my phone and listen to them all the time.and I loved Once. and Across the Universe. and it is Joss. and the trailer looks awesome. It is gonna be legendary!
"it seems Whedon is back with a vengeance..."

Those words make my heart go pitty-pat.
I always enjoyed the older style talk-then-break-into-song musicals (like 'Music Man', 'My Fair Lady', 'West Side Story'), and I never got into the more sing-continuously-even-non-song-like-dialog (like 'George' and most all of Sondheim). 'Rent' is a throw back to the old style, and I loved that... And of course 'OMWF' is (and I REALLY adore that!) so I confidently expect to adore 'Dr. Horrible'!
There's just something about musicals that generally makes me love them no matter what, so I was all manner of excited when I heard about Dr. Horrible. OMWF is one of my favorite things ever and I also second the love for Once and Across the Universe okelay (especially Across the Universe).
I was exposed to too many Roy Rogers musicals as a child to ever embrace the genre. Really. Roy is being taken off to jail for doing something like protecting a widow against an evil landlord and as he rides off he says "That reminds me. (Breaks into song) Send my mail, to the county jail...." Shudder.
But like everyone else, I loved OMWF, so I know this one witll be awesome. Commentary and all.
Lioness,

Come now. Just becaus your first exprincs with musicals was of crappy ones, doesn't mean ALL musicals are crappy.

In the good un's, th songs are NOT extraneous, slapped in there things, but, like OMWF are intgral. (When I was littl, I used to wonder why th songs most peopl knew from musicals were th least relevant -- untill I realized that's why. You can "get" "On the Street Where You Live" as a stand-alone; most songs in the better musicals make much lss sense as stand-alones bcause they're about THAT character in THAT moment of their lives.)

I will be SO happy when my E key problm sorts itslf out!

That DHSAB is a musical, given His Purplitude's track record, is a plus.
