Buffy on demand. A new UK digital service will offer viewers a chance to watch Season One whenever they want.

Can people in other countries watch Buffy whenever they want on digital TV? And is this the next step forward for fans?

We already got Buffy season one on demand. It's called a DVD.
True but not everyone has a DVD player or necessarily wants one.
Digital TV boxes seem to be more expensive than decent DVD players (at least here)...but I guess it's more like, if you already have the box to get certain channels, Buffy can make it more fun. The on-demand service here in Western Canada is pretty sad--mostly porn, straight-to-video's and music specials.
I've avoided dvds like the plague until recently. A friend has let me borrow her laptop with a dvd player in it and I must admit I've gotten hooked. I was slow to get on the CD bandwagon too. I still have a lot of cassette tapes, even though they're just gathering dust now. For years I refused to accept CDs as the next logical progression. There comes a point where you just have to bow to progress.

I don't think paying for a service to have programming piped into your home when renting a dvd or buying one from a place down the street is more convenient. I mean, NEW programming maybe, but if something's already out on vhs/dvd, seems impractical to also make it available "on demand" through pay-per-view systems. But then, I haven't had cable in two years for the same reason, and other people still pay for that service.

To each his own, I suppose.
