TEN flies Angel again (in Australia). TV Tonight blog reports that TEN will start airing Angel on TEN HD from Sept, 16.

Is it a part of TEN strategy in their promotion of Dollhouse?

Is this first time anywhere that Angel will shown in HD?
No. Its on TNT HD in the states.
So how good is the picture quality?
Y'know, not to be nitpicky, okay, I'm being nitpicky, but the title of the first episode is "City of..." as opposed to "City of Angels." At least in America, that's what it is, since most Americans would probably know that LA is commonly known as the City of Angels, might not be too well known overseas.
I've only watched it once. It was good. Not jaw dropping good, but good.
Simon, it takes a large screen TV to see the difference between SD and HD. On smaller TV sets, it's hard to tell one from the other.

Simon, Its on tonight/tomorrow at 3 and 4 am. I'll Tivo it and let you know.
I have a 32-inch TV. There's a huge difference in SD to HD. Now, HD 720p to 1080i to 1080p, that's when you need a large TV.
I've got an HDTV with an up-converting DVD player($45 at Wal-Mart) and Angel looks amazing! Especially after season 2. I've seen Angel on HDTnT and it looks the same to me as my Dvd's. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm a long way from upgrading to Blu-ray. The jump from DvD to Blu-ray is in no way comparable to the jump from VHS to DVD whatever the marketers try to tell you.
From what I remember, of the one episode I watched, the best part of TNTHD is that it is fitted to your widescreen so no letterbox like the DVDs.

That would be greatly appreciated.
No problem Simon. So Pat, how much they paying you for that job you have at Sony?
*I tease outta love*

Hey, I wish. :-) But seriously, HD Cable Channels like TNT are lower quality. And I think most TNT shows like Angel and old L&O are just upconverted like a DVD player.
argh!! I was hoping they'd play reruns in Australia, but at 10.30 again!! I guess thats better than the random anywhere between 10.30 to 12.30 time that the Seven Network was using when they were airing it originally!
Still, I'll be interested in watching "Angel" in HD.
I really hope this network does it better than TNT does. The TNT HD feed is horrible. They take a traditional aspect ratio (4:3) image and stretch out the sides in this bizarre adjustment to get it to be widescreen. When I watch it on TNT I just watch the standard definition channel simply because the stretching is horrible. It literally gives me a headache. Here's hoping those in Australia won't have to deal with that.
Ten HD's programming seems to be a lot more consistant than the main channel, when they say they're going to air something they'll usually show the season from start to finish. This is good news. I can't wait to see how they handle Dollhouse eventually too.
Simon, I am back with some info on Angel on TNTHD. The episodes that aired this morning were from season one, unfortunately, and originally were not in widescreen 1.78:1. So, when stretched to fit the screen it made it a bit grainy. I played the same episodes on my Mac, at the same time, and the DVD picture was considerable better. Season two was shot in widescreen so the quality may be better on TNTHD. Those air thursday morning, so I'll be back then with another update.
