(SPOILER) TV Guide asks Simon Helberg (Moist) how he got involved with Dr. Horrible. (There are some spoilers for The Big Bang Theory.)

TVGuide.com: We can't ignore that other show you were on: Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog. How did you get involved and will there be more Dr. Horrible?

Helberg: I went to high school with Joss Whedon's brother and they asked me one day to do this. It was during the strike, or it was spawned during the strike, and we shot it a little afterwards, but I was like, "Yeah, totally." It was great, just genius. Well, I guess it helps to be Joss Whedon. [Laughs] But it was a great way to produce material purely for the Web and watch it grow. I don't really know what's next for it, but there's been talk of more acts, maybe a show or movie. We'll see.

I wonder which brother it was?

Dear Santa,

Dr Horrible: the indy movie. Please.

Your loving subject,

Gossi.
Surely Zack is the only one the same age as him...

(Actually that's quite an age gap between the Brothers Whedon, isn't it?)

The bit about wooing the pope made me smile ;).

I wonder which brother it was?

Simon Helberg is apparently 28 so yeah, I reckon it's Zack too (he graduated in 2002 which would put him in roughly the same ballpark age-wise). Or it could be one of the others that we don't hear much about.
2002?!

Jeez, I feel old.
Edit: never mind. Just a bit of silly I thought better of.

Edit again: Fine. I'll put it back.

Zed?

Hmmm. Does that count as having the same thought at the same time if I deleted mine?
If it does it could cause the end of time and space as we know it. And I would love a Dr. Horrible movie. It was such a shame that Joss never got to his big screen Dracula musical back in the late 90s.
"If it does it could cause the end of time and space as we know it."

I'm surprisingly ok with that.
I want an on-again off-again web series, not a movie.
I think getting the actors to do that again may be troublesome, unless there's a strike. I think they could probably get away with a movie, though - they would roughly be able to budget it properly now, too.

I think, ultimately, anything else is a bonus.

Santa operates outside the confines of reality.
Don't shatter my world, dude!
Dracula musical? Go on...

On a slightly unrelated note, I read recently-ish that Joss and Ty King pitched a show in 98. Does anyone know anything about this show?

Personally, I would be happiest with a Dr. Horrible movie. It seems the most feasible, and it'd be two hours of wonderful, musical fun. But given how successful everyone involved has been--damn their talent!--I'm not overly hopeful for anything.
Don't shatter my world, dude!

By which I meant Santa is MAGIC.
One of the lost Whedon brothers is the elusive Zed - also, not many people know this, but Joss has an evil twin named Ross. Fact!
I have a ton of Joss love, but I've always wanted one of his younger brothers to spill the dirt on what it was like growing up with him. You just know someone as creative and imaginative as Joss could come up with something that would put them through Hell. That's what older brother are for, hehe.

Does he get called Rosh sometimes?
Yes, but he just laughs, because he's evil. ELoE-type evil.
Does he have facial hair? If he's a true evil twin he's legally required to have some.
If he's evil, surely he should laugh only before destroying their village in fiery torment? Or was that last-century evil?
Fiery torment is a style thing, it's immune to the vagaries of fashion. Plus, it's very slimming.

Don't shatter my world, dude!

Ssshh, don't tell the kid that ! All these years he's grown up not believing in magic, jeez, spoil the illusion much ?

I agree. I think the format it's in is perfect.

I think, ultimately, anything else is a bonus.

I guess if they made a Dr. Horrible movie, I might go see it . . . maybe ;)
Ross is deep undercover stalking Joss right now, we haven't seen him in months, so I assume he's found some facial hair ... somewhere.

I liked The Big Bang Theory the one time I saw it, too bad it's a sitcom and up against Heroes cuz I don't tape sitcoms.
cabri, it is on at 8. Heroes is on at 9. It is up against Monday Night Football, Terminator, Dancing with the Stars, and Chuck. Monday at 8 has to be the toughest timeslot of the whole week.
Oh, no wonder, I had my TV listings starting at 7 instead of 8. Doesn't matter, of course, since Chuck, Terminator, and football have priority.
QuoterGal - David Schwimmer?!?!?!?!?
Oh, no, Ross is back!! And he's brought Zed with him!

I don't think Joss grew up with Jed and Zack, did he? Joss lived with his mother and they are his half-brothers.

Back on topic, Moist was just the needed extra character in DHSAB.
Moist is one of the more brilliant additions to DHSAB, yeah. I loved him from the moment the words "Moist! My evil moisture buddy!" hit our monitors :).

I have yet to see 'The Big Bang Theory', though. Is it any good? It sounds like it might be fun, judging from this interview...
It's nice to know I'm not the only one who had Latin in high school. I loved him as Moist, liked the little he was in Studio 60 and what little I have seen of Big Bang Theory I like.
Well, David Schwimmer ties in nicely with Helberg's flat-ironed hairstyle, the "Maniston."

ba-dum-tssssss!
