Huh, I'm confused. Is this a Moviehole interview or a doctorhorrible.net interview? I first saw it on the latter, which doesn't source it as being from somewhere other than themselves.


(ETA: Might explain why the latter has had it for 9 hours, according to Google, but Moviehole only for 2, according to Google.)

Can't wait 'til the pre-orders. It's cool that they're keeping some of the extras secret (well, until release day or someone with an advance copy spills). I might try to stay "unspoiled" for those until I pop the disc into my machine.

I think it must be Rhee, since every mention in the article itself has it as Rhee and despite moviehole.net having it as Ree in the heading. That probably also points to it being a dh.net interview and not mh.net.

Nice to get all the assurances that both the DVD and CD will be out for the holidays. They must be pretty far along in the deals.

I'm very much looking forward to the DVD and CD. I'll be pre-ordering them as soon as it's possible. I like your idea of staying unspoiled for the extra's, Kris, but I'm thinking it'll never work. As soon as something's announced I'm sure it'll be up here on the black.

Otherwise, this was a fun interview. And it always amuses me when I see that people 'in the know' read whedonesque :). Also: I'm guessing that drhorrible.net sold the republishing rights to their interview. Which in that case: good for them!

Also MovieHole have been getting abusive emails about this from so-called Joss fans. Such behaviour is utterly pathetic and there is no excuse for it.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the DVD would be region free - I'll try and find where I saw it and post back if I find it.

I'm kinda wanting (I know It's hopeful thinking) the DVD to somehow be available at the Firefly con in Burbank next month - then I could grab a bunch of copies to bring home in time for Christmas, Amazon takes about a month to mail stuff down here so there's no way it would make it in time.

All the music and characters are original and AFAIK wholly owned by the creators i.e. there're no region specific contracts to be negotiated so I can't see a reason to region lock the DVD.

Not that it makes much difference to me either way but it'd be nice on principle for theonetrueDubya to end-run round the standard way of doing things.

BTW, I know a lot of people are counting on this DVD to be out for Christmas so they can buy lots and lots of copies to give to all their loved ones (and break their hearts too. Nothing says the holidays like sudden death...) Anyhoo... Captain Hammer might not want his ultimate and humiliating defeat to be under everyone's holiday shrub of choice. He might even go so far as to kidnap Santa to prevent him from delivering his goods. So I'm thinking it might be wise to take a page from someone that is good with plans* and have a back up gift in mind- but on topic. So, I have a few suggestions:

1) Jinx t-shirts. Buy a tee for each intended recipient of DHSAB and put add a note that they have to wear the shirts to an up coming 'movie night' where all can watch the finally delivered DVD together and as each of your guests leave, gift them with the copy they should have gotten earlier. Take that, Captain Hammer!
2) if you can't afford two gifts like a tee and later a DVD there are plenty of fan done art that you could make fancy IOU's with, and then do the whole movie night thing a la option 1.
3) pretend you have forgotten it's the holidays.
4) write a song about an epic battle between you and Captain Hammer, but he prevailed *this time* and stole your gifts. But you have a cunning plan to get them back. Sing it for everyone. In your PJs'. And then upload the video for all of us. (Please?)
5) bake cookies. No one can comment on lack of gifts from you if their mouth is full.

I can't act but I twiddle a mean finger. Consequently, though i'm still undecided between 'sock' and 'shadow', i'll be going down the puppet route (assuming the DVD can't be internationally acquired before Crimbo).

I don't own any action figures, but I do have some doggy chew toys that I could use. There's a big pink stuffed-animal pig that could be Captain Ham-mer, and a stuffed multicolour jingle ball that could be Dr Horriball / Bally Buddy.

Felicia Day is so fan-friendly and accomodating, I was thinking she could come over and play Penny herself. Otherwise, I will see what is in my change purse.
