(SPOILER) A full recap of Dollhouse's first episode. Spoiler fans, your time has come.

I refuse to read it until the pilot leaks. ;-)
Surely since it hasn't aired yet it's a precap?

... I'll get my coat.
I'm not reading, but I would like to express how grateful I am for Wednesday, November 5th, 2008. Dollhouse trailer, Dollhouse episode summaries...

And I feel like something else big happened... politics, maybe? Whatever.
I got to my first bit of totally Joss dialogue and decided that I wanted things to be better for myself. So I'm waiting. Boo to my good brain.
That recap is nearly impossible to read, what with its attempts at being cute and/or snarky instead falling pretty flat in a spectacularly grating manner.
Speak for your self, my toes are a tingling!
Happy Guy Fawkes day Dollhouse!
"That recap is nearly impossible to read, what with its attempts at being cute and/or snarky instead falling pretty flat in a spectacularly grating manner."

Exactly what I thought. I couldn't even finish it, it was so difficult to read.
^^ I completely agree. I couldn't get through much without my head hurting. Maybe that's a good thing though? This way we won't be spoiled when the episode does air...or at least until someone else posts a summary. Or the pilot leaks... ;)
DeWitt marvels at the fragment of frieze Langdon retrieved mentioning that Michaelangelo thought his works were already inside the marble for him to release.

Whoot! A dialogular shout-out to Michelangelo's artistic Neoplatonism!

Michelangelo believed that the artist's function was to bring preexistent forms out of the material at hand: "the greatest artist has no conception which a single block of marble does not potentially contain within its mass, but only a hand which obeys the intelleto can accomplish that" (Clements 16). Art forms, or the concetto, exist independently of the artist, and are implanted in matter by nature. The artist's function was to draw these forms out of the material.

How utterly thematic! On the Love v. Domination continuum that I insist on seeing in Buffy Season 8 and life, Neoplatonism is a nice artistic metaphor for seeing and midwifing* into existence the potential beauty and strength of the individual. Wiping out their identities and programming them to do one's bidding would be the other thing. To an extreme.

Thank you for the (quite possibly imaginary) nod to your Christian Humanist fans, Bold Purple Dude!

*Which may be how the first scene ties in with the rest of the ep. Just guessing.

I'm not going to read the recap...really, I'm not. I've gotta sign off Whedonesque now. I'll be back when my will power is stronger.
I was going to be good. Restrained, even. No Dollhouse spoilers for me! Nope. So of course I read the article, only to find...

On one level...punishment for being weak in the face of spoilers, and on the other hand...Yay, we're close enough to the January air date for spoilers!
Okay, I published this article, and I just wanted to correct myself and make a fool out of myself before somebody else does: I don't think this is, in fact, the first episode. It was screened by Fox to people as that, but from what I can work out this was shot as episode two. I've no idea, air wise, if it will end up going out on air as episode two.

Also, in terms of writing style - I thought, personally, it was great fun. It was nice to see an alternative take on something to 'OMG Whedon *splurge*'.

So, FOX called it the first episode, but it was shot as the second? Okay, I'm not one of those panic meter/Firefly comparison people, but I can see why they'd maybe think the way they do.
I wasn't totally put off by the writing, but I can see how one might be. Anyhow, two months to forget everything I just read!
Two months? Hmm. It would be so helpful if we had a way to erase memories.

What?
Hee! Well played, sir. *starts rousing, dramatic slow-clap*
Did I fall asleep?
What are the odds that Ballard is a Doll as well? I'll go out on a limb and say that his quest for the House is part of a bigger conspiracy.
Oooh, Ballard, Deckard. Deckard, Ballard.
Too much dissonance if Helo turns out to be a Cylon ;) Not that I think he is. Nor that Deckard's a replicant.
