Eliza Dushku's 'Alphabet Killer' gets its own website ...but not a (wide) theatrical release. The site is promoting the DVD, which Amazon.com says comes out January 6, 2009 -- perhaps to piggyback on the Dollhouse buzz.

I read the synopsis and it sounds pretty good. The trailer on the other hand didn't inspire confidence (but I don't think much of the Dollhouse trailer either).

An old girlfriend of mine had adult onset of paranoid schizophrenia. It was probably the worst experience of my life, and certainly was of hers.
I saw The Alphabet Killer at the Austin Film Festival a few weeks ago. I thought it was a pretty good movie. I gave a detailed spoiler-proof (hopefully) review of both The Alphabet Killer and The Thacker Case on truefan-eliza.com.
I agree with dzr. I don't know why the trailer for this film makes it come off as such a b-grade. There's more than enough, in my opinion, talented actors involved with the project to inspire a little more confidence in the material. Timothy Hutton is an academy award winner (granted it was for a movie produced in the early eighties), for the love! And Eliza, who in the past I've had a hard time believing in any role but Faith, actually seems to be maturing in her craft. It's a shame no one I know will ever see this film. It's not even playing in my city, and will most likely go on to be largely ignored once it hits the rental shelves.
It sis well in limited release pulling in $11,000 in just one theatre.

Anything more than $10,000 is a great start for a limited release, especially for Horror / Thrillers like this film.
