Serenity Blu-ray gets UK release date. It'll be out on January 5th and features different cover art from the R1 version.

It also contains a unique extra in the form of

We'll Have A Fruity Daty Good Time!

Did we already know about the visual commentary from Joss, or is that new information? Well, it's new to me anyway and I think it sounds cool! I'm assuming it'll be like the recently released Casino Royale Blu-Ray commentary.
The visual commentary, if I recall, is the same cast commentary from the collector's edition, just, you know, visual.
Ah, I see. To be honest, I'm not even sure if I've listened to the new cast commentary yet. I'm a bad, bad fan.
I bet you kick puppies too.
Who among us could resist?
Fair point, they're asking for it with their snuffles and their cutesy wutesy, flopsy wopsy widdle ears.
Makes my foot twitch just to think about it.
If there's one thing Serenity needs, it's yet another cover.
Anyone heard anything about an Australian release either for this or for the Blu-ray version of Firefly?
No thanks. I'll import the region-free US version, the CE cover is much classier than this one.
The US version is region free? Cool. I've yet to get my head around Blue-ray regions.
There is Region A, B and C.

A: East Asia (except Mainland China and Mongolia), Southeast Asia, North America, South America and their dependencies.
B: Africa, Southwest Asia, Europe (except Russia), Oceania and their dependencies.
C: Central Asia, East Asia (Mainland China and Mongolia only), South Asia, central Eurasia and their dependencies.

Whether or not a Blu-ray release is region-free is up to the studio. The site http://bluray.liesinc.net/ will give you all the information you need on the region status of all Blu-rays. While the Serenity Blu-ray technically has not been announced as region-free, it definetly will be, since Universal NEVER region-locks their Blu-ray releases. Funnily enough, while Fox virtually always locks theirs, the Firefly Blu-ray will work on region A&B machines (although not Region C), so I'll be importing that too.

That's great, thanks for the clarification. The site also told me that the US Firefly release will be able to be used in region A & B but not C players - that's good enough for me!
does the US version of the Bluray get the visual commentary or only the UK version?
