No Buffy movie says Tony Head.
He shoots down those recent rumours. And if you were wondering about Ripper, well it seems to be dead in the water according to what Joss said in his Write Environment interview.

Always nice to hear from Tony though. I've never been in any doubt that should anything ever happen with regards to another Buffy project, he'd be there. Just a shame that Ripper isn't going to be it. Dumb red tape and dumber legal type people that use the red tape to make potential awesome television all sticky and red.

But it would be fun to have a Buffy/Torchwood crossover. After all Cardif has its own Hellmouth ; )

Joss' word on it didn't seem 100% final to me BTW, just not in the near (or even forseeable) future. So final-ish but not final-final.

For God's sake man, which quay does it leave from ?!?
Saje | December 10, 03:35 CET
Which, let's face it, has been Joss' word on it pretty much since 2001 (Comic-Con '07 excepted).

Decoupling Tony from Giles will take some time for me if that thing won’t be Ripper, but that is a silly concern in the great scheme of things.

Probably wouldn't go as far as that. Maybe just a slightly nasty chinese burn for the really wishful types. ;)

Yes, it isn't likely that we will have a buffy movie soon, but it would be nice anyway and we should say it more often.

I really can't imagine that many Whedon fans would be against the idea of a Buffy movie happening. We're just having a little poke at the fact this particular rumour had absolutely no factual basis, is all. ;)

Fox: Dude, we put Dollhouse on Fridays. Fridays! Get over yourself. Oh, and no matter how your fans want it, no matter how many bushels of money you shove in our faces, we're not reviving Buffy. Period.
Fans: If you strike the Buffy movie rumors down, they will become more powerful than either of you can possibly imagine.
Joss: (to Fox) See? The fans won't let me leave her! Why won't they let me leeeeaavve?!?

Yeah O.K. a little bit harsh. But I at least think a spanking is in order. ;)
” You're hard on wishful people ! It almost seems like you wouldn't like to see a buffy movie”
Au contraire, mon ami. It just helps to be a little silly about it when you want something and know you’re not going to get it.

Yes, Tony loves to swear. In fact, he's gotten in trouble a few times at conventions because of his "potty mouth" - he told us @MotorCityBuffy that he actually had a lady get up, take her child by the hand, and leave in the middle of one of his Q&A sessions because of his language.
Personally, I'm not a fan of rough language. The occasional "damn" or "hell" isn't bad. But dropping the F-bomb just because you can...really? What's the need?
I heard a character on a cop show the other night say "jackhole." Huh?
Now, as far as the movie...Tony only said it's not happening now, not that it's not happening ever. It will happen; Joss just has to find the time to read the script.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to try to catch that goat...

Exactly. Until I hear it from Joss that he told Tony what Tony says Joss told him he said I just won't believe that Brian Lynch hasn't already not seen an advanced screening of the Buffy movie during which he ate a bucket of popcorn that, had it been real, would've gone straight to his thighs. Anything less concrete is just hearsay.
My 'Wah!' was for the chain of events I managed to somehow start...
Whatever dude, you still exist and it's no good trying to wriggle out of it.

To be fair, you gave your name as Hollywood J. Insider and they just shortened it. Plus, as Saje pointed out that I pointed out, you do exist.

Re language: !@#$ it, I just want my !@#$ing movie...
(Yes, I talk that way in real life. Which is remarkable, considering how difficult it is to pronounce "!@#$".)

Saje | December 10, 12:05 CET
Love the way you think. And, apparently, talk... ;)
Got to admit, I'm not exactly someone who cares about bad language either. I don't go out of my way to swear at every possible opportunity but I probably do swear a lot more than most and I certainly don't care about hearing other people swearing. Just doesn't phase me at all. I'm like a walking Die Hard movie, only with less explosions. Usually.
"You don't care what Tony says even when what Tony is saying is that Joss (who, as you say, will determine) told him so?"
Was just thinking the exact same thing. Not hard to see how these rumours thrive when people can ignore facts that come directly from the Big Purple, just because those facts happen to come from someone else's mouth.
I guess if it's not directly from Joss then it's not canon truth. ;)

RE: QuoterGal's captured moment... are we sure he isn't becoming a PTB? In that case, gossi could be privy to events that may or may not happen in the somewhat near future. Or he could be harvesting evil that will promote world peace. It could go either way.
They should make Speed 3: Rumour Control. (It would still be better than 2).
Are you saying that there's a Speed 3?? And Keanu is reviving his role after the success of The Day the Earth Stood Still? Awesome! Must report!
My 'Wah!' was for the chain of events I managed to somehow start. From posting an article saying 'They should make a Buffy movie, please thanks bye', to ending up in a newspaper as a Hollywood Insider (?!?!), to the story ending up on the radio, to the story ending up all over the internet, to Tony Head ringing Joss (!) about it...
Wah!
To be clear, Riker - the rumour he's refering to is one I accidentally started online by saying there should be a Buffy movie. The press ran with it and, well, ran with it. Despite it being a Whedonesque posters opinion. I'm a guy who works for a company which sells tinned tuna.
gossi, I didn't know a man who sold tinned tuna could hold so much power. Or have such wonderful connections to Joss & Dollhouse. Are you mafia-supplying them with tuna at Kraft Services??? Is that how you have the slightly-altered inside scoop?
Being ganged up on around here is a sign of love :).
So... this is a gang bang?
And, serious question here, why is "fuck" so damaging to the ears? If long ago they decided that the word "shoe" was foul, and "fucks" were what we wore on our feet, would we feel differently about it?
Example:
WheFan 1: "Oh, I love your high-heeled fucks! Is it hard to walk though?"
WheFan 2: "Ah, no, I love them. I'm a little sore, though. Just bought them. Still need to break them in."
WheFan 1: "Where'd you get the fucks? I'd love to buy some!"
WheFan 2: "At the Payless Fuck Store."
WheFan 1: "Shoe! Really? I love that store!"
WheFan 2: "Please don't use that word. It hurts my fragile ears."
...
Have I curdled this cheesy thread yet?
