James Marsters makes USA Today's top 100 people of 2008 list. The Pop Candy column at USA Today picks James as their #69 top person of 2008.

The writer praises James for his roles in Torchwood and Smallville and wishes to see more .

ETA: The site seems to be down at the moment so here's the text.

"69. James Marsters. His guest stint as the rebellious, flirtatious Captain John added a spark to Torchwood's second season, and Smallville fans enjoyed his run as the evil Brainiac. When will the guy get a regular gig so his roles won't be such a rare delicacy?"

And Brigid Brannagh (Wesley's girlfriend Virginia Bryce) is #94.
Wow. I love JM with all of my heart, but I never would have expected him to be on the list. And rated higher than Paul Newman, no less. I agree with the writer--more James on a regular basis. Yes, please.
When will the guy get a regular gig so his roles won't be such a rare delicacy?

I hope the answer is SOON.

Whitney is a big fan of Buffy. Whedonesque came in at no. 70 on her list back in 2004.

Joss gets a negative shoutout at #87 regarding the delays on his Runaways run, but hopefully he'll make the list with the success of Dr. Horrible, S8, and Dollhouse coming out soon!

Thanks for the link, Simon. I'm now officially a big fan of Whitney.
Yay Jimmy boy!! *g* Great stuff.
Excellent for James! I like a lot of her picks, very cool.
Ha! I'm not going to read too much into the number ranking JM got. I must agree that I hope he'll find a more regular role soon. He needs to be on my TV weekly.

Simon, I love the old posts links - it's fun to see news about the fandom from way back when.
Congrats to James! I agree with everyone that says he should have more regular roles. I would start watching TV again!
I'm glad that the writer recognizes him as being a "delicacy" but couldn't she have posted that with a better picture of him?
I love the picture! Naughty Captain John!!
*gasp* Oh, Simon! James came higher than Whedonesque 2004?!

*eyes shift to her JM obessorabilia* I’m conflicted, but okay with that. ;)

All of us are routing for more Marsters on TV – I can so fit him into my weekly diet. It had been suffering with the lack of delicacies.
I was sort of hoping to see James involved in the Torchwood mini-series next year but that's obviously not on the cards now. Shame because I have a nasty feeling that will be the last we see of Torchwood, meaning no further appearances of Captain Hart. Hope I'm wrong.
