Anthony Stewart Head plays Prospero in Bermuda. Mr Head will be playing in The Tempest between the 25th and the 28th of February.

Direct flights from Miami, NYC, London and Toronto :)

I can put anyone up if anyone is making the trip.

(yep I'm fully aware that this is probably only of interest to one person who reads this site, and that would be me. So mods I understand if you want to delete it)

Too bad they're not doing it on the beach, wouldn't that be (yes, I'm going to say it) totally awesome? Especially that one public beach with the huge rocks (I think they're rocks, it's been 30 years). I wish I had a job that took me back to Bermuda in the dead of winter.
Smart way to get a vacation in warmer climes. Get your way paid, do a few shows, get paid, take a few more days...sigh...jealous as all get out.
Wow, there are at least three reasons I wish I could go to this (ASH, The Tempest, and Bermuda)!

(You know, the island in The Tempest is largely considered to be based on Bermuda...)

Cabri,

I think the huge rocks that you are talking about got smashed in Hurricane Fabian a few years ago. But yes that would be great. It's in City Hall, and I'm currently trying to get on the production :)

Septimus, yep, Bermuda is fairly proud of that fact :)
Oh, if only we hadn't already had our winter vacation!
If only this were the week of Presidents Day...
Hey, if I could afford it I'd come see it! ASH is awesome!
Mmmm....ASH, tropical beach setting....I'll be in my bunk.

And I'll be there...in my dreams. Only way I could afford it.

But golly gee whiz! A chance to be involved, in any way, with a production Tony is in? fmwt I envy you greatly. I'd even paint the set if it'd get me back in theater, and Tony'd be a total bonus. sigh I miss Drama.
ShadowQuest,

Well I'm involved in the local dramatics group and we put on stuff at the same location. And Bermuda is a tiny place ;)
fmwt If you happen to "bump" into The Man...do so gently, k? I don't want him bruised. (Or you, for that matter.)

Oh, and in case you haven't figured it out, you're not the only ASH fan here. In fact, over on another Buffy board I frequent, I founded a group called W.ASH - Worshippers of Anthony Stewart Head. Even gave him a T-shirt at the Detroit con that said "I put the 'ASH' in W.ASH." Once I explained it to him, he giggled.

I'll expect a full report of the event. Pictures would be a bonus. By the end of February we might be warming up, might actually get into the 30s again. Not like tonight, which has a high projected of -3, with a windchill of -25.
Grr argh... why do interesting/possibly awesome things always have to be so far from me?? And why aren't they doing it on summer?? -sigh-
Spider, it's 68F today. And the Festival is always in "Winter" as there is nothing else to do here. Well that's how the Bermudians think.

ShadowQuest, yep had figured that out :). A full report will be forthcoming.
Ah ah, it actually occurred to me just after I wrote that comment, and I felt a bit stupid...but still sad it doesn't happen when I'm on vacation!!!
Thank you for putting this up fmwt, I am VERY interested! I can't go, but I visited Bermuda once years ago and totally fell in love with it: it is really heavenly, and I can imagine that ASH is going to have an amazing time there. So I hope you'll go and enjoy it for all of us, and do go to the stage door after the performance to tell ASH that he was awesome (because we all know he will be!)!
"All our yesterdays...." (I hope that's from the right play)
That's from Macbeth, I believe. I think you're looking for "O brave new world that has such people in it" or possibly "We are such stuff as dreams are made on". :)
I've always assumed that the planet "Miranda" in Serenity is called that as a kind of lightly-coded nod to Huxley's Brave New World.

By the bye--although there are plenty of allusions to the New World in The Tempest the play makes it pretty clear that the island is set in the Mediterranean--somewhere off the coast of Tunis.

Well, yeah, it's not actually SET on Bermuda, but the recent discovery of (and shipwreck on) Bermuda is thought to have inspired it.
I also want to add a thanks for posting this info. I went to Bermuda for the first time last year and could kick myself for not going sooner -- it's a beautiful place and has a lot to offer, including great public transit (which is one of my key criteria for destinations). I loved the pink buses. I could also kick myself now for having a passport that is about to expire and procrastinating the renewal. This will teach me...also, there are nonstop flights from Philadelphia, too, for anyone who is more together than me. And generally this time of year there are pretty good deals on airfares from the east coast.
I second the thanks for posting this. I totally looked into it, and almost figured out a way to do it. Sadly, it's not feasible.
