Meet Joss Whedon in New York. He'll be discussing Dollhouse at the SoHo Apple Store on February 10th at 7pm.

Meet the Creator: Joss Whedon, "Dollhouse"

Join writer/producer/director Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Firefly") as he discusses "Dollhouse", his new highly-anticipated drama series starring Eliza Dushku. "Dollhouse" premieres Friday, February 13 at 9:00 p.m. on FOX, and will be available on the iTunes Store.
February 10, 7:00 p.m.

Is his audience going to fit in an Apple store?
His Nano fans will.
Every question will be, "What's on your iPod?"
I wonder if he'll also be appearing on any of those late night chat shows or even The Daily Show.
Anybody remember Joss on e4? And The Culture Show with the crusty dude who claimed women were asking for it?
I would love to see him on the Daily Show. But if Dollhouse makes a big splash, I'd really love to see Colbert interview him.
I've been bitching for years that Joss needs to be on the late night circuit. Joss would own Dave Letterman or Conan. (However, I think Conan would like it.)

btw--was in Lake Tahoe this past week for a much needed vacation. One day I wore my Mutant Enemy (grrr arrrg) t-shirt and got 4 different comments about how cool it was...one girl who looked 20, two older women in their 50's and one thirtysomething guy.
See, that's cross-demographic appeal ;).

Anybody remember Joss on e4? And The Culture Show with the crusty dude who claimed women were asking for it?

Heh, Joss vs Brian Sewell: Smackdown 2, Smacker Downer ! Or was it Boris Johnson's dad on The Culture Show ? Old crusty dudes all kinda blur together sometimes.

"Joss, if you really could imprint personalities, what personality would you imprint on your iPod ?"
"Do the sexy, confident walk!"
"How is an Active like an iPhone?"
I need to be there. Need isn't even a strong enough word. I have class till 2:15--I could probably make it to New York in time.
"How is an Active like an iPhone?"

You can load 'Ninja Ropes' onto both ?

"Do the sexy confident walk ... as Numfar !"
I need to be there.

Well hopefully people from here will get a chance to go. Probably do a special thread for the event.
So does one just turn up and hope there's space?
If only one turns up there's bound to be space.

;-)
Ha! Well done.
So does one just turn up and hope there's space?

You'd probably be best giving them a ring beforehand and finding out what usually happens at this type of event.
Why don't I think of obvious things like that? It's amazing that I even manage to feed myself. I'll give them a call - thanks Simon.
Someone please tell him to swing by Rochester when he's done with New York! *stuck at school*
Right, I'll mention that. :)
I go to school about an hour away from New York, but have class until 6:10. Grr.
Oh, man, I have that day off but it's 14 hours away. :( Why couldn't NYC be in Michigan?!?
Really Streetartist? Why don't you see Joss when you have no class. (thanks RD)

But seriously, school is more important than seeing Joss in person?
Why couldn't NYC be in Michigan?!?

Not the first time I've asked my own self that question. ;)
Still can't go. But everyone who can, have fun.
So close, yet so far! Alan Tudyk will be at the FarpointCon in Baltimore MD Feb 13th-15th... as will I, and numerous other BCs. I also understand that Nathan Fillion will be in or around NYC at about the same point on the Calendar.

-I hope Joss and/or Nathan reads this, and thinks to visit Alan.

Hey, if you're gonna wish, wish BIG! :D
No alexreager I think the correct delema would be is School more important than meeting Joss...

If that's the case then I suddenly think 'flu' is on my calendar for that day as far as school goes.
What bizarre cross-promotion; I had no idea Apple Stores did speaker events like this. Two great tastes that taste great together, though -- congrats in advance to the lucky folks who manage a spot.
D'oh -- I just realized that video is available for all the past events, which means that those of us not in NYC will be able to view at some point after the fact. Yay!
Definitely sounds like talk show visits for both Joss and Nathan. Maybe the people who can't make it to Apple can make it to any talk show tapings being held. And hopefully they'll stop by Craig before they leave LA, Nathan and Craig get along very well. :)
Ohh why does he have to be in NY when I am away at college? If I was home, I'd be able to go into the city for the day. :/ Still, nothing is worse than when I missed him at Wesleyan (20 min away from me) because I didn't hear about it until the day after.
Oh, man, I wish I could be there! Stupid geography.
Oh man... This is only 5 days before the James Marsters event in NJ. I wish I could skip school and work that whole week to go see Joss. I think seeing both Joss and James (with the possibility of Nathan and Alan) the same week would make my young life complete. Oh well. I'll still have a blast seeing James.
Yay, good to know Dollhouse will be sold on iTunes too...Jeez I wish I could be there for this. Sigh.
I think Conan will wrap up his run in New York that week. Otherwise, having Nathan or Joss on the show would be perfect. If we're lucky, maybe Channels 5 or 11 could have them on their morning shows. If Nathan could cook, he'd be on Rachael Ray.
WAAHHH!!! Joss will be there on my birthday! But I won't be able to go to NYC to see him, because I'm broke and live on the West Coast!
Where's the Left Coast love? First a sing-a-long, then NYCC, now this. Honestly, one would think Joss has forgotten his roots . . . ;-)
Yay, also glad it will be on itunes as I am not so much with the tv having.
Good for iTunes & me! Now I can have Dollhouse with me wherever I go. *evil grin*

And, yes, where is the Left Coast love? Is this like a seasonal thing? East coast in winter... west coast in summer? If so, I need to make flight arrangements for next year.
Finally... finally some Joss in NYC!!! Honestly, being on this side of the US is awful for fans of TV.
Hey all. I know this is off topic but does anyone know whether I can order Dr. Horrible in Australia yet? Cheers

That would be like porn for me. La petit squeeee.
Heh, I wouldn't have thought Actives would be compatible with Apple products.

Yeah, he should go visit the city he was born in!

Wait...

Well, I've been to that Apple store once... that'll have to suffice this time around. I have some people in NYC to call though...
Joss needs to bring his ass to Oakland. But, if he hits up Frisco i'll cross the bridge.
Where's the Left Coast love?

We get a whole lotta love. Just because we're convenient, of course, but such is life.
Ok... I just read the info on the front page of the linked site and it says "and will be available on the iTunes Store." there's nothing to indicate it's an in-store event so much as a video interview...? Does anyone have anything to indicate that I'm wrong and everyone else's assumptions are correct? Can you point me to it please so I can add the details to my calendar. Ta.
It says ""Dollhouse" premieres Friday, February 13 at 9:00 p.m. on FOX, and will be available on the iTunes Store." (my emphasis). Joss, however, premiered over 40 years ago ;).

ETA: It also says "Meet the creator" and "Join writer/producer/director" both of which suggest the really real world to me (I know virtual's the new black but it's hard to meet and/or join people except in the world IMO ;).

will this be free to attend?
"And The Culture Show with the crusty dude who claimed women were asking for it?"

I am intrigued, was it definitely The Culture Show? Any idea of the date? Ta.

ETA: Just done some investigation. It wasn't The Culture Show, it was The Last Word on More4. And it was Brian Sewell and Stanley Johnson.

Saje duh! of course they meant the eps on iTunes, that makes sense. Still unclear about the whole issue of whether or not people will be able to see Joss in person in store, I'll see if I can find any other info but if anyone knows anything please feel free to share. Ta
We're going to attend this (and provide coverage, of course, for those not in the area) but it's definitely scary. That Apple store is packed on any random day. Can't imagine what it'll be like with Whedon there!

It's true, though....we rarely get the love over here. New York isn't even depicted in the Whedonverse except for a rat infested alley or 2....
Isn't Fray (and parts of S8) set in NY? I really like the visual representation of that city.

We have rats, here, too. Those are undoubtedly really LA rats, on the shows, but authentic in their ratness. We don't have much in the way of alleys. It's a different building style. I don't even know how they found that many alleys for Angel. I'm glad that y'all are getting some love.
Well, I could enjoy myself a little longer without the Right Coast love. It's as if the "big" plan is to undermine my persuasions to get my NY friends out here to sunny CA. Comic Con was a big push for that. Now what do I tell them? That LA rats are as authentic as NY rats, but it's the non-alleys that are a "must see"?

pffft.

(Seriousfully, I love NYC. Used to live there. But I've been not-spoiled since I moved and "owning" Joss was a rare highlight. Come on. You guys have Broadway, subways, Chinese food that tastes good, Dunkin' Donuts, snow days, Tribeca Film Festival.... just leave this one, k?)

Won't change anything. Just missing the spontaneous trips.
LA has a subway too, saw it on 'The Inside' ;).
I've just now watched the ep of Angel S1 where they also clearly show a subway in LA. They even have breaks and stations and all.
I occasionally ride the Red Line subway to our offices in downtown L.A. - a downtown which is filled with alleys a'plenty. We for sure are not - for the moment, anyway - subway'd anything like NYC or Boston or San Francisco - but we are hoping to head that way - once more...

In fact, the area where we work - the fashion district - is quite often shot as N.Y., and some of the many (pardon me) "piss alleys" - one of which Tim Minear talks about in an Angel commentary - are part of the obstacle course I walk from the subway or parking lot on my way to the office.
