Caprica to Premiere on DVD April 21st a year before airing on Sci Fi channel in 2010
This is a "Pilot" to the series that Jane will be show-running this year. PR linked here.

Me want. I hope it's available on Amazon.
Sounds to me like they're confusing "Caprica," the prequel show, with the Jane Espenson penned movie, "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan."
No. This is the pilot for Caprica, for which Jane will be the showrunner.
I hope it'll be available on netflix....
Ahh...I should avoid the internet after 2 big glasses of wine.
Buy it twice - once now, and once when it comes as part of season 1.

Hah. It's actually pretty smart. Caprica doesn't air until 2010, and BSG ends soon. This gives Caprica a way to almost immediately capitalize upon BSG's departure.
I changed the main link to Sitrep's writeup of it. Also, I have to say, I enjoyed the hell out of this script and I've heard that the filmed product blows the script away, so I am pretty psyched. Its a good time to be genre fan.
The release says that pre-order closes on March 3rd. If you go to the link on the bottom of the page, it just goes to a static announcement page. So, where do we pre-order the DVD? If it was there I missed it. Anyone know and can help a hopelessly confused individual? I definitely want to order this as it will be something to help me deal with my BSG withdrawals.
I do have to say that I was a little peeved when I saw that Razor was part of the season 4 set. BSG (or maybe I should say Sci-fi/Universal) has always seemed to take advantage of their rabid fan base with both their scheduling and DVD sets.

With that said...it will be cool to see Caprica sooner rather than later.
MacGuffun, re: "The release says that pre-order closes on March 3rd": That's just the date for retailers to place their orders. It isn't relevant to the public. The public will find it at the usual places (i.e. Amazon, DeepDiscount, etc).

Know what you mean but "early adopters" have always been stung in this way and it gives the box set a longer life. Also, 'Razor' is technically from a season (i.e. production wise it counted as 2 episodes) so they have to put it somewhere.

Good news, the whole not having to wait thing. Gen X baby, it's all about the instant gratification ;).
Great news. As broke as I am, I shouldn't even consider it, but I probably will. :)
Looking forward to this (now that I'm almost caught up on BSG). Jace from Televisionary has seen it and liked it.
I've seen the rough cut of this pilot...and if you enjoyed the script, you are going to be very pleased. I actually think the potential for Whedon/Espenson fans to like CAPRICA may be larger than actual BSG fans. Right now many BSG fans are harping on the assumed lack of space duels CAPRICA will have, and throwing around the markedly sexist term "soap opera" a lot when they discuss this new show. Frustrating.

Anyway, check it out folks. It was good thought-provoking material.
Good to know that the early opinion is that the pilot doesn't fail the script.
@jcs: btw I completely disagree with Jace about
Is Jace's problem on that count ?
Why is 'soap opera' sexist ? Isn't it just a type of show like 'sci-fi' or 'legal drama' ?
@Saje: not the way some BSG fans use the word, no.

@b!X: you'll have to ask him. I was making some assumptions. ;-)
