Angel/Buffy/Spike make Top 20 TV Love Triangles. Ranked #7 at AOL Television. Squeeee.

History: Vampire Angel (David Boreanaz) and vampire slayer Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) fall for one another almost immediately, but the connection between Buffy and vampire Spike (James Marsters) isn't as immediate. One of Buffy's "Big Bads," Spike is Buffy's mortal enemy until a chip is implanted in his brain by the Initiative, rendering him incapable of harming humans, and he finds himself falling platinum blond head over leather booted heels for Buffy.

Outcome: Romance isn't easy for this working woman. When Angel realizes that experiencing a moment of pure happiness with Buffy triggers a Gypsy curse that causes him to lose his soul (which leads to him tormenting Buffy until his soul is restored), they quickly realize they have no future. As for Spike, she initially resists his advances, having been burned by a vamp before, and by the time she realizes she loves him, he's sacrificing himself to close the Hellmouth. Bummer.

Not sure I'd call it a triangle since the three weren't around and interested in each other at the same time. More like two independent love lines
Well, there's End of Days, Chosen, the whole of Angel Season 5, and a hint that it's still in the cards in The Long Way Home's threesome panel. I'd call that a triangle.

(In fact, they should have used the last shot of End of Days in the article, instead of those random photoshoot pictures. It's iconic.)
I'd agree with you, but the presence was always felt, probably more by the fans than the characters. And as we saw in "Chosen" and the handful of "Angel" episodes Buffy was in... Closure is not something that comes easily in the WhedonVerse.
Oh you mean they weren't talking about the triangle where both Angel and Buffy had a thing for Spike? My bad. ;)
It was a triangle in the finale of Buffy.

I think it must have been fannish reaction that included Angel/Buffy/Spike on that list because it wasn't depicted within either show, IMO. They were seperate relationships that developed apart from each other, not concurrent ones. A better example of a triangle that occured on-screen would be Angel/Darla/Lindsey or Gunn/Fred/Wesley.
Good point, menomegirl. But Chosen, as the final ep of the series, put it pretty firmly in that category.

But then the Jossverse is a veritable cornucopia of triangles....
Willow/Xander/Oz, - Willow/Cordelia/Xander, - Willow/Tara/Oz, - Spike/Dru/Angel, - the two groupings you mentioned, - Angel/Cordy/Gru, and creepy as it will always be, Angel/Cordy/Connor.
did I miss any? ;)
Lilah/Wesley/Fred. Maybe Riley/Buffy/Spike. :)

I think that would be all of 'em.
Too many "/" rots the brain! ;) And this is coming from a slasher lol
Hmmm. Slash triangles.
