Whedonverse comic book chart positions for February. Are there any great surprises? Not really. Buffy #22 came in at no. 12 and Angel #17 and #18 took 51st and 53rd place respectively.

Pretty much the same as usual and IDW must be pleased with the chart position of Kelley Armstrong's debut. The second issue of the Smile Time mini-series came in at very respectable no. 104.

I believe that those are only USA numbers right? Because even Spiderman getting 350,ooo, the Brazilian "Turma da Mônica Jovem" made his record with 400,000.
Good to see Aftermath didn't drop off hugely... but it will be interesting to see what #19 comes in at now that everyone has a taste...
That is interesting that Aftermath didn't have that huge a drop. Great job of marketing by IDW.
ICV2's estimated numbers:

If most of those sales figures are based on pre-orders though...and even if a few read it in the store before buying or not buying, no pre-ordering and blind-buying reader would have known in advance what it was going to be like, it's just a sign that most if not all of them were willing to give the new writer and arc a chance. Like aapac says, #19 will be a more accurate measure of how receptive the fans were to that first issue. But given that pre-orders are made 2 months in advance, even that would have been bought by many before they'd seen #18. #20 and 21 will be the most revelatory indicators. I imagine even lukewarm reactions will give "Aftermath" a bit longer after #19, but we'll see.

Wish they'd hurry up and publish the rest of Lynch's arc sooner, I'm way behind, having just reserved my "After the Fall" Volume 3 hardcover. But I'm glad I waited for the trades, I don't think I'd be as patient with this series as I am with getting Buffy Season 8 in monthly form.
Kris, the chart is entirely pre-orders, yes, and more precisely the Diamond circuit's pre-orders, which means most of the US and Canada market. It doesn't include other circuits or Diamond Europe, for instance.
Good to see Buffy holding its relative position nicely, even if the actual numbers are down - just like its blonde namesake the comic stands there like a stone wall ;).

Marvel must be pretty happy with the "weekly" experiment on Amazing Spider-man too.
All titles are down, and when they're up it's because of so-called events or star guest writers (Neil Gaiman on Batman this month). General comics trend and economic recession.
Yep and Buffy's actually less down than the average across the top 300 (or has been in previous months).
I've just done the unthinkable and cancelled Superman and Adventures, but that's because they've written Superman out of the books. WTF?

I continue with Angel and Buffy, but I miss Mr. Lynch something fierce.
