When Janice Met Penn. Amber Tamblyn -- Dawn's friend Janice in "All the Way" -- and Jeremy Renner -- Angel's nemesis Penn in "Somnambulist" -- star together as NYPD officers in "The Unusuals," which premieres tonight on ABC at 10 PM EDT/PDT, 9 Central.

I was totally going to do a post with exactly the same headline!

This is actually the first thing I've seen Jeremy Renner in other than "Somnambulist", and I liked him there. He looks a lot different. Didn't Tim Minear also say he thought of him when writing "True Believer"?
Jeremy Renner has done a ton of feature films -- he's the bad guy in "SWAT," was Jeffrey Dahmer in "Dahmer" (a truly disturbing film, more so because Renner is brilliant in it) and is in the upcoming Kathryn Bigelow Iraq movie "The Hurt Locker." So he's been working very steadily on the big screen; I think this is his first gig as a series regular.

Loved Amber Tamblyn in Joan of Arcadia. Great show.
This was actually a pretty good show... it wasn't nearly as broad and campy as the commercials have suggested -- it's a character-procedural (my sub-category for "SVU" and "Bones" and other procedurals that have character arcs) with just enough quirkiness to be fresh.
Yeah, I really enjoyed the heck of it. Great cast, great characters and great dialogue. Guess I have a new show to watch.
I really liked it. Clearly an homage to Hill Street Blues only updates and pushed further. It looked like they were even watching an old clip of HSB's on the TV in the background.
I second Shepenew's comment. Jeremy's performance in Dahmer was one of the creepiest I have ever seen.
Also watched. Also enjoyed it. Although, I was a bit bummed it wasn't as campy as the commercials made it out to be.
I enjoyed it, it was exactly as advertised in the commercials. What campiness is everyone speaking of? Maybe I missed some ads.
Too bad they stole the lie detector bit from David Simon, who had it in his book and then went on to use it in both Homicide and The Wire. Now I'll be wondering every episode where they stole their scenes from.

Since I cannot stand camp 99.9% of the time, I'm glad to hear the show did turn out to be that way.
Thanks for the heads up!

Loved Amber in Joan of Arcadia, am still mad it was canceled :(
Loved her in Sisterhood of the traveling pants, too, and I'm a guy :P
Don't worry Krusher, loving Amber and being a guy is very normal.
lol, obviously I ment watching the movie Sisterhood of the travelling pants as a guy.. I know a lot of blokes who'd run away from that (their problem :P)
